St. Paul Conservatory of Music to Host Annual Children's Camp

Summer at the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music gets into full swing on July 6 with its annual camp, the Children's Music Workshop, a St. Paul institution for over fifteen years. Campers ages 6-12 will fill the historic Exchange Building and spill out into the McNally Smith courtyard for lunch, breaks, and impromptu concerts for mid-day passersby. Conservatory faculty provide inspiration through classes in music history, theory, choir and a choice of electives, while guest artists from all over the Twin Cities provide performance and hands-on experiences at the end of each camp day. The Workshop concludes on July 16 and 17 with two final concerts showcasing the hard work and imaginative creations of fifty campers, counselors and staff; come to hear our free performances which this year includes an original composition by former camper and counselor, Will Robertson! Sign your child up for camp today, and we hope to see you around 26 E. Exchange St this summer.

Music Mountain, America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival, continues its 86th season with Swingtime Big Band on Saturday, July 25th (6:30pm) playing the best music of the Swing Era! Plus pre-concert dinner at Falls Village Inn (5pm). The weekend continues on Sunday, July 26th (3pm) with the Avalon String Quartet performing Faure, Debussy, and Ravel with guest artists Jan Opalach, Bass-Baritone and Jonathan Yates, Piano and Music Mountain's new Musical Director. For the second season, Music Mountain is offering an extended summer program filled with Music Mountain debuts, first time guests, brand new series', and returning favorite bands and ensembles! Chamber, country, opera, jazz, and folk concerts are scheduled thru September 27th.

Orange County, Calif.—June 30, 2015—A shining jewel among the most popular piano repertoire, Beethoven's “Emperor” concerto bursts to life at Pacific Symphony's Summer Festival in the hands of internationally renowned pianist Rueiben Chen. The Boston Globe has said: “He plays with the white-hot energy, steel-fingered power and athletic virtuosity… Chen showed that he can play with delicacy and imagination.” Full of romanticism, majesty and beauty, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 is the last piece the composer wrote in concerto form and has remained the favorite among his fans. Led by Assistant Conductor Alejandro Gutiérrez in his Summer Festival debut, this concert also marks the maestro's final performance with the Symphony. Houston Symphony Names Mark Nuccio as Principal Clarinetist

Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada and the Houston Symphony announced today that Mark Nuccio, current Associate Principal and Solo E-flat Clarinetist with the New York Philharmonic, has been appointed the Principal Clarinet of the Houston Symphony.  Nuccio will begin his new role in Houston during the week leading up to the 2015-16 Season's Opening Night concert on September 12, 2015.  He replaces former Principal Clarinet David Peck, who retired in 2013 after serving in that position for 33 years.  During the two-year interim, Associate Principal Clarinet Thomas LeGrand served as Acting Principal Clarinet.
STAR TREK THE ULTIMATE VOYAGE to Make West Coast Premiere at Broadway San Jose

CineConcerts, CBS Consumer Products and Paramount Pictures will launch Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage, a North American concert tour playing performing arts centers in more than 100 cities. The tour launches in Florida in January 2016 and will travel throughout the U.S. and Canada through the end of April 2016. An exclusive pre-tour engagement will be held at Royal Albert Hall in London on November 1, 2015. 
Basel Symphony Orchestra Appoints Ivor Bolton as New Music Director

Commencing with the 2016/17 concert season, British conductor Ivor Bolton will take the helm in a four-year contract running till the end of the 2019/20 season. Polish Conductor Micha? Nesterowicz has also been named as the orchestra's new Principal Guest Conductor.

Cary's Booth Amphitheatre will come alive with the hot sounds of the New York City-based band the Hot Sardines on Thursday, July 9, at 7:30 p.m., in the season finale of the 2015  Rex Healthcare Summerfest Series.  Gates open for the concert series at 5:30 p.m.  Children 12 and under are free on the lawn.  The North Carolina Symphony is presenting, but will not perform at the concert.

San Francisco, CA (June 25, 2015) – The 100th anniversary of the premiere of Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil (Vespers) will be celebrated with three performances of the choral work by Bay Area Russian choral ensemble Slavyanka on Friday, August 21 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Palo Alto, Saturday, August 22 at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, and Sunday, August 23 at First Congregational Church in Berkeley. The weekend also welcomes Cantata Profana, performing the music of Stravinsky on Saturday, June 27th (6:30pm) and a solo performance by Kim Kashkashian, viola as the second offering of the Distinguished Artist Recital Series tonight, June 26th (7:30pm).
