There's something for everyone on stage at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park. From daytime programs especially for young children to family friendly evening performances of music, dance, theatre and more, this is Houston's best entertainment value. Admission is FREE! Free tickets for evening performances are available on a first-come first-served basis (four per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between the hours of 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for assigned seating under the canopy. If tickets remain at 1 p.m., the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets. As always, open seating on the hill.

Under normal circumstances, all unoccupied/unclaimed seats are released five minutes before the show is scheduled to begin. We encourage all patrons to be in their assigned seats at least 10 minutes before showtime to ensure that their seat is not released. Again, there is NO charge for tickets. Tickets may not be reserved by phone. Only four (4) tickets per person. At managements' discretion, all unoccupied seats may be released at any time for any reason.

Join the Houston Symphony in celebrating and welcoming Andrés Orozco-Estrada in his inaugural concert as Music Director. It will be a festive evening, featuring the music of Colombia and America, complete with folk dancers. Also on the program will be Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Montero, who will dazzle you with Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and engaging piano improvisation.

Incredible India returns for its sixth consecutive year at Miller with The Life of Guatama Buddha, a unique musical theatre production about peace and compassion.

El Grito featuring Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles

Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m.

The stirring El Grito ceremony, followed by a performance from the exceptional Reynas, celebrating 20 years as one of the best all-female mariachi groups. Ebullient, captivating and thoroughly entertaining, this Grammy-nominated group brings sensitivity, beauty and warmth to the historic art of mariachi. America's first all-female mariachi ensemble, Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles has blazed the trail for women in a genre predominantly populated by men. Mixteco Ballet Folklorico opens the show.

Swing Jive & Pop! Into Dance

Sept. 24 at 11 a.m.

MET Dance's "Swing, Jive and Pop into Dance" incorporates history, fashion, music, and the arts into an interactive blast of excitement. The company dances through the eras of the 1930's Lindy Hop, bops into the 1950's, grooves into the 1970's and ends with the hip hop music of today. Students, teachers and audience members have the opportunity to converse with the dancers and participate in an energy filled hour of dance while learning fun historical tidbits and information.

Cinderella in Spain

Sept. 25 and 26, both at 11 a.m.

Cinderella in Spain, by Mary Carol Warwick and Kate Pogue, transports the classic fairy tale to Spain. When the king holds a fiesta to find a bride for his son, Prince Paulo, all havoc breaks loose as two stepsisters crash the party. Despite this distraction, Paulo falls in love with an unknown señorita who leaves a glass slipper as the only trace of her identity. One of HGOco's most successful commissions for children's opera, Cinderella in Spain brings a bilingual opera experience that young audiences are guaranteed to enjoy.

Once Upon a Time

The River Oaks Chamber Orchestra kicks off its 10th Anniversary Season with a concert titled Once Upon a Time, featuring conductor Victor Yampolsky, acclaimed violinist Brian Lewis and a world premiere composition by Maria Newman. The composition - the 39th world premiere of commissioned by ROCO in its first ten seasons - is based on the children's story The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and is titled Abilene Violin Concerto. It will feature former ROCO concertmaster Brian Lewis on violin. The evening performance will also include Mozart's final symphony, the Jupiter Symphony, plus Rossini's spirited Italian in Algiers Overture and Britten'sSuite on English Folk Tunes.

The Intergalactic Nemesis

The Intergalactic Nemesis hits Houston - and it's great fun for comic fans of all ages. The year is 1933. Pulitzer Price-winning reporter Molly Sloan and her intrepid research assistant Timmy Mendez team up with a mysterious librarian to defeat a terrible threat to the very future of humanity: an invading force of sludge-monsters from outer space, the Zygonians! A mash-up of the old-school radio play and comic book, The Intergalactic Nemesis is brought to life when comic book visuals are projected on panels.
