The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra will kick off 2017 with the continuation of its two-year Brahms Fest. The CSO and Music Director Louis Langrée will perform the composer's Fourth Symphony Thursday and Saturday, Jan. 5 (7:30 p.m.) & 7 (8 p.m.) at the Taft Theatre, in a program that also features the May Festival Chorus, world-renowned vocal soloists and works by Bach and Webern.
The CSO has partnered with Ei8ht Ball Brewing, located in Newport, KY, to brew a limited edition beer for these concerts. The beer will be available at the Taft Theatre for the concerts, as well as in various bars in restaurants in Downtown and Over the Rhine. The unfiltered brew is a classic German Hefeweizen with a twist from the minds of the brewers-fresh boysenberries.
Tickets for these concerts start at just $12 and are available by calling the CSO Box Office at (513) 381-3300 or visitingwww.cincinnatisymphony.org.
The CSO Chamber Players, small ensembles of CSO musicians, will also perform during this Brahms Fest weekend on Friday, Jan. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral in Downtown Cincinnati. The program features Verdi's String Quartet in E Minor as well as Brahms' Serenade No. 1 performed by many of the CSO's principal players. Tickets are available by calling the CSO Box Office or visiting www.cincinnatisymphony.org.
The CSO has partnered with several other organizations to make Brahms Fest a community-wide celebration including concert:nova and Linton Chamber Music (featuring Louis Langrée on the piano!). See the attached press release for details or visit cincinnatisymphony.org/brahmsfest.
