Photo Flash: Summer Soiree at Muhs Studio Kicks Off Art Southampton 2013

Art Southampton's Nick Korniloff and Pamela Cohen, with Beth McNeill, The McNeill Group and her husband artist Jeff Muhs co-hosted an elegant Summer Soiree to kickoff the upcoming Art Southampton, presented by Art Miami, the premier international contemporary and modern art fair and marketplace for acquiring the finest works of art available in the Hamptons. The by-invitation-only event for young collectors and Art Southampton Host Committee members was held at the Muhs' sprawling Shinnecock Hills aerie in their beautifully landscaped sculpture garden and in their art filled home on July 5. A light breeze cooled the evening as guests enjoyed, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a sumptuous raw bar fromSouthampton Social Club, the official After Lounge of Art Southampton. As well, there were performances by artists from the acclaimed Watermill Center and Dan Bailey & Friends whose drumming had everyone on their feet. Later in the evening one of the area's hottest young DJs Twilo kept the dance floor rocking. There was a definite vibe of Miami heats up Southampton as guests, many familiar with both fairs, animatedly discussed this year's Art Southampton and the extraordinary list of international galleries showing the best of the 20th and 21st Centuries masters, as well as, emerging artists from here and abroad.

Among the art-loving crowd were Greg & Lauren Manning, Michaela & Stephan Keszler, Ann Liguori & Scott Vallary, Gary & Katherine Burkhardt, Ron Burkhardt, Christian DiLalla, Jeanine Edington, Jamie Forbes, Montgomery Frazier, Robin & Jeff Geisel, Rod & Judy Gilbert, Rolf Heitmeyer, Dr. Matt Kaufman, Kim & Phil Pape, Daniel Padnos, Diana Pinck, Ellen Sakany, Jamie Sharpe, Scott Tucker, Tia Walker, Peggie Walker and Dr. Frank & Myra Weiser.

Beth McNeill-Muhs is founder of McNeill Art Group which consults to a wealth of collectors, both public and private, providing personal delivery of works and creating an ease to the selection of work. Her husband artist Jeff Muhs is renowned for his sculptures and paintings.

Following the extraordinary success of its inaugural edition last summer, Art Southampton will return at the height of the social and cultural season this summer July 25 through 29, 2013.

Over 90 prominent international galleries will participate. Highlights include a special exhibition Warhol by Gallery Valentine with a panel discussion including friends of the late artist, an exhibition of works by New York Academy of Art alumni curated by America's foremost narrative painter, Eric Fischl famed fashion photographer Raphael Mazzucco will sign copies of his book RAPHAEL MAZZUCCO COLLECTED ART at Rosenbaum Contemporary's booth; Art Southampton, Cynthia Reeves Gallery & Todd Merrill 20th Century + Studio Contemporary will host a brunch for interior designers in Art Southampton's VIP Lounge while mingling with peers, Art Southampton dealers, and Fair Director Nick Korniloff and iconic photographer Jerry Schatzberg will sign his works at Nikola Rukaj's booth.

The season's "can't miss" event of the summer will take place in a spectacular 100,000-square-foot pavilion on the grounds of the sprawling 18-acre Southampton Elks Lodge estate adjacent to the Southampton Golf Club located at 605 County Road 39, Southampton, New York 11968.
