SCOTUS Trailblazers Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sandra Day O’Connor are SISTERS IN LAW at CenterStage at the JCC April 6-21 JCC CenterStage is proud and honored to bring the Rochester premiere of SISTERS IN LAW to local area audiences. CenterStage joins the ever-growing list of North American theatres to share the story of how the first two female Supreme Court Justices, Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, left their mark on The Supreme Court and the country. SISTERS IN LAW is a new play by Emmy and Peabody award-winner, Jonathan Shapiro, (who is also a lawyer). It is based on the best-selling and award-winning 2015 book of the same name by Linda Hirshman. The two-character play focuses on their 35-year relationship and its evolution, both professionally and personally, as Justice O’Connor and Justice Ginsburg became the two most powerful women in the country. During this time, their friendship transcended political parties, religion, and culture. The play has been performed in theatres around the country and has been very well received by audiences. It is timely and relevant today as women and other marginalized communities continue to fight for their rights and freedoms that are still under attack from local, state, and federal governments. Sisters In Law is an important and powerful production about two women, their friendship, their legacy, our country’s future, and it should not be missed!
