Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP), responsible for a four-star presentation of Annie Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation in Western New York (WNY) earlier this year, will marks its 2012-2013 Season finale with another WNY premiere of a play by one of the nation's leading female playwrights, The Clean House, by Sarah Ruhl.

The Clean House, a comic tragedy set in "Metaphysical Connecticut," opens at the Road Less Traveled Theater (RLTT) on Friday, April 19th, and stars RLTP Ensemble Member Victoria Perez as well as Peter Palmisano, Mary McMahon, Christina Rausa, and Margaret Massman; RLTP Ensemble Member Derek Campbell directs.

Perez plays a Brazilian housekeeper with little time to clean; instead, she is utterly consumed by her quest to learn (and tell) the perfect joke. Her employers are Lane - a woman, a doctor, and compulsive neat-freak - and Lane's husband, Charles, who is about to leave Lane for a terminally ill yet hopelessly charismatic patient with whom he's fallen madly in love.

Sarah Ruhl is a Pultizer Prize nominee for In The Next Room; Or, The Vibrator Play, which enjoyed its WNY premiere at the New Phoenix Theatre in 2011; her other plays include Eurydice, Melancholy Play, and Dead Man's Cell Phone.

RLTP Artistic Director Scott Behrend praised Ruhl as "the torchbearer of 21st Century magical realism in theatre," whose plays have gained enthusiastic cult followings for their offbeat, often surreal, blend of romance, comedy, and ennui. "The Clean House transports us from harsh reality to bittersweet fantasy, as its characters search for solutions to their tangled lives, try desperately to order their universe, and maybe even learn to laugh along the way."

Actress Victoria Perez was last seen at the RLTT in RLTP's production of The Last Days Of Judas Iscariot and is the Artistic Director of RAICES, which presents its VOCES LATINA series of plays read in Spanish, English, and Spanglish at the RLTT five times a season. Director Derek Campbell previously directed highly acclaimed RLTP productions of Edward Albee's The Goat; Or, Who Is Sylvia? and Darryl Schneider's Artie Award-winning Clean Break.

RLTP's production of The Clean House opens Friday, April 19th, 2013 at the RLTT in the Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre (MAFAC) and runs through Sunday, May 12th, 2013. Showtimes are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2:00 PM. Tickets are available at www.roadlesstraveledproductions.org or by calling (716) 629-3069.
