MOMENTS AFTER AIAS Will Be Presented by JACK With Three Brooklyn Theatre Companies
Andrew Watkins' play is co-presented by HAMLET ISN'T DEAD, SANGUINE THEATRE COMPANY, and WHAT WILL THE NEIGHBORS SAY?.
Hamlet Isn't Dead, Sanguine Theatre Company and What Will the Neighbors Say? will partner with JACK (Amen Igbinosun, Executive Director) to present “MOMENTS AFTER AIAS,” adapted and directed by Andrew Watkins. The piece, an adaptation of Sophocles' tragedy combined with contemporary verbatim sources, will be presented at JACK (20 Putnam Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11238) from July 17th-26th.
As a decade of war draws to a close, Aias faces the devastating loss of his closest friend and the betrayal of his commanders. Consumed by rage and despair, he commits an act of unspeakable violence. “Moments after Aias” combines classical and contemporary voices to show how a community narrates and remembers tragedy in moments of ideological fracture.
Helmed by Watkins, the cast includes Gabriela Saker*, Jacob Fishel*, Aaron Costa Ganis*, Zach Fike Hodges*, Michele Ang*, Sam Morales*, Malachi Beasley*, Jeorge B Watson*, Benjamin Hyman, and more to be announced. The design and creative team includes Josh Oberlander (Sets), Sam Kaseta (Sound), Amanda Roberge (Costumes), Sarah Woods (Lighting), Mike Magliocca (Fight/Intimacy Director), Isabel Criado (Stage Management) and Shari Perkins (Dramaturg and Assistant Director).

The chance to partner with Amen and the excellent team at JACK to bring this prescient and powerful adaptation to audiences is an exciting creative privilege.”
