The Vivace Baroque Orchestra returns with a program that pairs The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi with Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla—two visions of the seasons that couldn’t be more different, yet speak vividly across centuries and continents.

Vivaldi’s iconic set—complete with birdsong, sudden storms, drunken dances, and even the chill of slipping on ice—remains one of the earliest and most imaginative examples of music that tells a story. Each concerto paints a scene, brimming with life and movement.

Piazzolla’s response, written centuries later in Buenos Aires, reimagines the seasons through the lens of tango. Here, the rhythms pulse, the harmonies smolder, and the seasons unfold not in pastoral landscapes, but in the charged atmosphere of the city—sensual, restless, and deeply human.

Performed by the Vivace Baroque Orchestra—fourteen exceptional New York-based musicians who come together for select projects—this is playing of remarkable cohesion, vitality, and flair. Their performances are known for precision without stiffness, and energy that feels both spontaneous and deeply considered.

Featuring violin soloist Siwoo Kim, drawing out every shade—from Baroque sparkle to tango heat, the evening promises both virtuosity and storytelling at its most compelling.
