VOICES OF AMERICA: Chara Percussion Ensemble to Perform American Classics
The ensemble will present works by Copland, Gershwin, and Bernstein at the Performing Arts Center.
Chara Percussion Ensemble will present VOICES OF AMERICA, a celebration of some of the nation's most beloved musical works, on July 24 and July 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center in Brewster.
The program showcases the versatility and artistry of percussion performance through arrangements of classic American compositions and traditional songs that have become part of the country's cultural heritage.
Audiences can expect interpretations of Aaron Copland's "Simple Gifts" and selections from "Appalachian Spring," alongside John Newton's enduring hymn "Amazing Grace." The concert will also feature the traditional African American spiritual "Wade in the Water," highlighting the rich musical traditions that have shaped American culture.
The program continues with two celebrated works from the American concert stage: George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and Leonard Bernstein's "America.".
