Photo Coverage: THIS Celebrates Opening Night at Barrington Stage Company
"THIS" a play by Melissa James Gibson (House of Cards) opened on the St. Germain Stage of Barrington Stage Company last night and had most of the first night audience telling there friends "don't miss THIS", after leaving the theatre. Broadwayworld was there for the opening night celebration. When great ideas, words, and acting are heard in a theatre THIS is what happens. "THIS" runs thru August 27th. Already Berkshire theatre lovers are also saying "don't miss this" about Barrington Stage Companies production of COMPANY starring Aaron Tviet on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage August 10-Sept 2...Opening night is August 13.
Directed by Louisa Proske (BSC's Engagements, peerless) the cast of This includes Drama Desk nominee Julia Coffey (London Wall) as "Jane," Erica Dorfler (Broadway's Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) as "Marrell," Eddie Boroevich (Ensemble Studio Theatre member) as "Tom," Mark H. Dold (BSC's Breaking the Code, Love Letters) as "Alan," and Paris Remillard (Broadway's HAIR) as "Jean-Pierre."
At the center of This is Jane (Julia Coffey), a widow and single mom, who along with her circle of three friends, is warily approaching 'middle age.' As Jane's long time friends-a jazz singer and carpenter struggling as new parents and an eccentric mnemonist, attempt to help Jane come to terms life without her husband, they begin to realize the unhappiness and lack of fulfillment in their own lives.
Members of the creative team include scenic designer Brian Prather, costume designer Tricia Barsamian, lighting designer Scott Pinkney and production stage manager Michael Andrew Rodgers, with original sound design by David Thomas. It was an early-bird very special event in Florida yesterday as The Footlighters Club of South Florida honored their President Errol Dante who was celebrating his 80th birthday. Many spoke in praise of entertainer Errol who in addition to having a long a successful career in show business has also dedicated his time and efforts to senior entertainers who benefit from the charity of the Footlighters club.
