Greater Boston Stage Announces CALENDAR GIRLS

Calendar Girls is a delightful, heartfelt comedy based on the true story of eleven English Ladies Club members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund. Made famous by the hit 2003 movie, this is a play about friendship, determination and hope; about loss in many forms; about the importance of acceptance; and about knowing when to let go. Directed by Nancy E. Carroll, Calendar Girls boasts a star- studded cast. Performances run May 31 - June 17, 2018.

"This play has always been one of my favorites," says director, Nancy E. Carroll. "I love true stories about people who do a small act out of love and kindness, that they think will go unnoticed, but are thrust into the spotlight unexpectedly as others embrace their courage, spirit and generosity." Known regionally primarily as a premiere actress herself, Carroll continues: "The icing on the cake is the astonishing cast we ended up with. Who wouldn't want to work with these people? I am excited to be with them and watch them create these women. My only issue? How do we contain the hilarity?!"

Actress Sarah deLima shares, "Having been a leukemia patient at Dana Farber, (now in excellent health!) and cared for by a miracle team of doctors among them my beloved daughter, Jane, I am thrilled that GBSC has joined with Dana Farber in presenting this production. There is something almost magical to me that the two completely different worlds of a palliative care physician and her actress mother should meet and mutually support each other in this way." Our cast and crew of Calendar Girls has chosen to collect donations after select performances to raise funds to aid in the fight against cancer at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Please visit http://www.dana-farber.org/ for more information on this important organization.

The cast features Boston luminaries Maureen Brennan, Sarah deLima, Mary Potts Dennis, Kerry A. Dowling, Jade Guerra, Michael Kaye, Karen MacDonald, Sean McGuirk, Cheryl McMahon, Nael Nacer, Kathy St. George, and Bobbie Steinbach.

The design team is comprised of Scenic Designer Jenna McFarland Lord, Lighting Designer Karen Perlow, Costume Designer Gail Astrid Buckley, Composer and Sound Designer Dewey Dellay, Assistant Sound Designer Caroline Eng (a GBSC Young Company alum), and Props Master Lisa Charlotte Berg.
