Cape Rep continues its 30th Anniversary season with the fresh from Broadway regional premier of John Patrick Shanley's Outside Mullingar, Tony Nominee for Best Play of 2014. Shanley, the author of Doubt and Moonstruck, explores his Irish roots in this contemporary romantic comedy set in the Irish countryside. Rosemary is approaching 40 and Anthony is already there. They should have wed long ago but insecurity, time hardened eccentricities, prickly pride, unrequited love and an epic grudge over a tiny piece of land seem insurmountable obstacles to romance. Very smart, lyrical and funny, Outside Mullingar is a treat for the ear as well as the heart. Cape Rep's 30th Anniversary season is made possible with the generous support of Cape Air, our season sponsor.

Cape Rep newcomer, Daisy Walker, directs. The creative team introduces Cape audiences to Set Designer Mark Guirguis and Lighting Designer Patricia Nichols joined by Cape Rep's Resident Costume Designer Robin McLaughlin.

The cast features Cape Rep company members Alison Weller and Damian Baldet as Rosemary and Anthony, and Julie Allen Hamilton as Rosemary's mother, Aoife; Dennis Cunningham makes his Cape Rep debut as Anthony's father, Tony.

Cape Rep's 30th Anniversary season opened with Failure: A Love Story by Philip Dawkins May 7 through June 7, followed by the regional premier of John Patrick Shanley's Outside Mullingar, June 25 through July 25. The Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical Evita plays from August 4 through August 29. Resident Playwright Art Devine's new play, A Cloud of Canvas, will receive its world premier from September 17 through October 18 and the season will close with the Tony-winning musical comedy, La Cage Aux Folles, playing from November 5 through December 6. The Outdoor Theater Children's Show is Mo Willems' Elephant and Piggie's "We are in a Play!" which runs Wednesdays and Thursdays, July 1 through September 3 along with Mary Wilson's popular Pitter Patter Puppets on Tuesdays from July 7 through August 25.
