SUMMARY:

From Tony winners Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, creators of such Broadway classics as Ragtime and Once On This Island, this dazzling show transports its audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family.

HISTORY:

Helmed by Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnjak, Anastasia made its world premiere at Hartford Stage in Connecticut, completing a sold-out, record-breaking run before transferring to Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre on March 23, 2017. Anastasia has also been seen on national tour in the United States and garnered Best Musical awards in Germany, the Netherlands and Spain.

Melody is ecstatic to return to Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre after playing Elizabeth in Pride & Prejudice in 2023. Melody is currently on break from leading the National Tour of The Addams Family as Wednesday, where she's also opposite dear David Eldridge (Dmitry), and directed by the incomparable Antoinette DiPietropolo. Melody’s credits include leading the National Tour of American Girl Live!, 15 shows Off-Broadway, and many concerts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. David Eldridge

David Eldridge has been performing in the area since 2015, and is thrilled to perform with CDA Summer Theatre again. In 2023 he graduated from Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor's in Musical Theatre. He is currently performing as Lucas in The Addams Family National Tour (Big League Productions). Other roles at summer theatre include Seymour Krelborn, Willard Hewitt, and Professor Bhaer. He is eternally grateful to his family and friends for their undying love and support, the team at CDA Summer Theatre and Antoinette for this opportunity, and his cast-mates for helping to tell this story. Adam John Bingham

At age five, Adam was pushed into music and singing for family activities. As a teenager, he sang on stage and became hooked. During High School, he performed in Fantasticks, Cinderella and Carousel and then jumped into vocal performance at the University of New Mexico. During college, he performed Sound of Music, South Pacific, Big River and West Side Story at ACLOA in Albuquerque and that’s when he fell in love with Broadway! In 1995, he went to New York City and attended the American Musical & Drama Academy. Today, his more current performances include Newsies with RMES in Ridgecrest CA and recently, Pippin with Stage Left Theater in Spokane. He is thrilled to be a part of Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre!


Nathanael Fleming

Nathanael is excited to make his debut at Coeur d’Alene Summer Theater! Recent engagements include Curly in Oklahoma! (Cinnabar Theater), Beast in Beauty in the Beast (Walla Walla Summer Theater), John Jasper in The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Lamplighters Music Theatre of San Francisco), Dr. Neville Craven in The Secret Garden (Walla Walla Summer Theater), Monty Navarro in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (Lamplighters Music Theatre of San Francisco), and Frederic in Pirates of Penzance (Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society). Chelsea DuVall

Chelsea DuVall (she/her) is excited for her first appearance onstage with CST! She previously worked as the Production Manager and offered support in casting & accent coaching. Chelsea is an Assistant Professor of Acting at Utah State University and works in Washington State as a performer, director & instructor/coach. She received her MFA in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts and has worked with companies such as Source Material Collective, Arizona Opera, Center for New Performance, Austin Shakespeare, and the Organic Theatre Company. In addition to her work with Coeur D’Alene Summer Theatre, she is directing a female inclusive production of Julius Caesar at Stage Left Theater in September. She is incredibly thankful to the CST team, her voice teacher Jenny, & her beloveds.


Julie Powell

Dowager Empress
Julie has been performing in musical theatre and opera for 35 years. After graduating with a vocal education degree from the University of Idaho, she took her talents to the Coeur d’Alene School District and Bryan Elementary. She has performed at the Eugene Festival of Musical Theatre, with the Spokane Symphony, many opera companies, and in countless CST productions including Cinderella in Into the Woods, Marian in The Music Man, Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music and Mrs. Medlock in Secret Garden. She sends love and gratitude upriver to her father Allan Hedman, and the tributaries of his musical heritage.


Malka Rubli

Malka,10 years old, is playing her dream role in this captivating story. Offstage, she cares for 3 outspoken parakeets, 4 clingy chickens, 2 mini pooches who don't know they're mini, & every small creature who crosses her path. Recent credits: "Fiddler on the Roof" (Bielke) at Coeur D'Alene Summer Theatre directed by Gary John La Rosa, "Joseph" (Children's Chorus) at RLCA directed by Justin Kreissig. She competes in Lego Robotics (FLL) and sings in Idaho's All State Elementary Honor Choir. Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre debut! Christian was last onstage as Danny Zuko in Grease in Western Washington (Tacoma Musical Playhouse), and recently won 2025 Outstanding Actor awards for TMP’s I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change in WA and the PNW region. Recent professional work: Dracula (Tacoma Arts Live), Cabaret, Hedwig and the Angry Inch (awarded NWTheatre Show of the Year), and Fun Home (Harlequin Productions). Other Washington State faves: Charley in Merrily We Roll Along (SecondStory Repertory), Orin in Little Shop of Horrors (Auburn Community Players), and George in Sunday in the Park with George (SPSCC). A '25 high school graduate, Ashley is thrilled to be in her third season with Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre! Her previous summer theatre roles include Chavala in Fiddler on the Roof, Kitty in Pride and Prejudice, and Wendy Jo in Footloose. Other credits include Katherine in Newsies (CYT NI), June in Gypsy (Aspire), and more! She will be attending a college program in the fall to earn her BFA in Musical Theatre and pursue acting professionally. She recently traveled to New York and was in final callbacks for The Addams Family National Tour! Besides performing, he enjoys choreography, cooking, fashion, and listening to classic Brit-rock! Coral Horton

Coral Horton is delighted to be making her debut with Coeur D’Alene Summer Theatre. Recent credits include Anastasia with Tacoma Musical Playhouse, and Fairy Doll with Premiere Division Studio Company. She has twenty one years of dance experience, and professionally danced ballet in New York, NY until 2020. She is a ballet teacher for children at Tutu School, Tacoma. A fun fact she wanted to share, she speaks French and Italian fluently!

Andre is a rising fourth-year BFA Musical Theatre major at Penn State, originally from the Bay Area. At Penn State, he played Tobias in Sweeney Todd and appeared in How to Succeed..., Urinetown, and Great Comet. Last summer, he performed in Newsies (Race) and Chicago (Bailiff/Clerk) at Interlakes Summer Theatre. Andre is so excited to be spending his summer singing and dancing at Coeur d’Alene! Reilly is thrilled to be back for her third season with Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre! She has performed in Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre's productions of Mamma Mia!, Sound of Music, and Pride and Prejudice: The Musical. Reilly has always had a passion for performing. Some of her favorite roles include Sandy (Grease), Cinderella (Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella), Liesl von Trapp (Sound of Music), Irene Molloy (Hello, Dolly!) and Miss Dorothy (Thoroughly Modern Millie). Reilly enjoys being a dancer/choreographer, crafting, anything Disney-related, and spending time with friends and family!


Hailey Stroh

Hailey Stroh is thrilled to join Anastasia with Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre! She recently graduated from Ridgeline High School with a 4.0 GPA and served as ASB Secretary. Past credits include Louise Bigelow in Carousel (Spokane Civic Theatre), Lady Larken in Once Upon a Mattress, Glinda in The Wizard of Oz, and Marie in Cinderella (Ridgeline HS). She has studied ballet since age three, along with modern, character, jazz, and musical theatre dance. This fall, she will attend BYU Provo, majoring in Fine Arts. Hailey is grateful to her dance teachers, family, first directors Chantel Giblette and Mindy Hymas, and voice teacher Heather Parker for their incredible support and inspiration.


Abraham T. Zakariasen

Abe is a young musical theatre enthusiast based out of Moscow, Idaho. After falling in love with the stage at 15, he has pursued performing with a passion and always hopes to connect with people through music and meaningful storytelling. Notable credits include The Music Man (TCT), Tale Of Two Cities (APOD Productions), Footloose (Starlight Mt. Theatre), The Secret Garden (APOD Productions), Newsies (Starlight Mt. Theatre), The Scarlet Pimpernel (Starlight Mt. Allison Steenblik Wagstaff

Recent credits include the chorus of Inland Northwest Opera's La Traviata and music directing The Drowsy Chaperone, Disney's The Little Mermaid, and Seussical in Elizabeth, CO. After receiving degrees in music education and teaching choirs in UT, CO, NC, and Western WA, she returned to her native Spokane, where she works with the Spokane Area Youth Choirs, serves as the soprano section leader of the Spokane Symphony Chorale, owns and performs with Spokane Carolers, teaches private voice, and adjudicates for music festivals in Washington and Idaho. Allison is thrilled to join Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre's production of Anastasia. She is especially grateful to her husband, parents, and three children for making this opportunity possible.

Chuck Ethridge

Executive Artistic Director
Chuck Ethridge has dedicated his life to the performing arts, beginning his journey as a performer at the age of four. His professional career in musical theater launched at 19, igniting a lifelong passion for the stage. His undergraduate studies are in Vocal Performance at Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego, and graduate studies in Voice at the University of Idaho. With a versatile skill set, Chuck has excelled as a performer, music director, conductor, and private voice instructor. His contributions to the North Idaho arts community are extensive, having served in many roles including Music Director, Performer, Orchestra Manager, Board Member, Soloist, Director, and Associate Artistic Director; with numerous organizations throughout the region including Aspire Community Theatre, The Lake City Playhouse, Chorale Coeur d'Alene, Inland Northwest Opera, Christian Youth Theatre, Christian Community Theatre, Spokane Valley Summer Theatre, and Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre. Beyond these roles, Chuck has been a sought-after vocal soloist and collaborator, performing regionally, nationally, and internationally, as well as producing his own shows. Chuck has also made significant contributions to the broader community, most recently by serving on the Membership Outreach Committee for the Coeur d'Alene Area Chamber of Commerce and currently, he holds the position of Commissioner for the Coeur d'Alene Arts Commission, further integrating arts into the fabric of the community. Outside of the arts, Chuck has professional experience as a Business Owner, REALTOR, and Operations Management, showcasing his diverse capabilities. A resident of Coeur d'Alene since 1994, he cherishes the vibrant arts community and cultural offerings of North Idaho. As the Executive Artistic Director of the Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre, a professional, non-profit theater company, Chuck is committed to fostering artistic excellence and community engagement, proud to be at the heart of this dynamic cultural hub.


Mike Chapman

Production Manager
Mike holds a dual BFA in Stage Management and Lighting Design from Western Oregon University. In 25 years of fun, his work spans from Las Vegas’ Strip to New York’s 42nd Street, from Timberlake Productions to the Gershwin Entertainment Corporation. And for the last decade, sailing up America’s Riverways. After nearly 200 productions, Mr. Chapman is honored to join Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre’s talented family of artists. Mike honors his parents, Jim and Kathy, who cheered the successes, encouraged to try again, and stifled laughter when it was well-deserved. Erin Wissing

Erin is thrilled to spend another summer at Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre. Recent credits include serving as Stage Manager of Clue the Musical, the first collaboration between North Idaho College and Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre and Assistant Stage Manager of last summer's production of The Secret Garden. When not stage managing, Erin is Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre's Creative Operations Manager and enjoys orchestrating logistics and creating spreadsheets for various productions. When not working, Erin can be found running lines with her son, making craft services for her daughter's various film crews, or listening to her husband rant about the importance of mic placement. Erin would like to thank her wacky theatre family for always supporting her.

Scott Michaelsen

Musical Director
This is Scott's third season with Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre, having served as musical director for Footloose in 2023, and Fiddler on the Roof and Little Shop of Horrors in 2024. A relative newcomer to North Idaho, he has also served as musical director at various professional theaters across the United States, including Sierra Repertory Theatre in Sonora, California; Post Playhouse in Crawford, Nebraska; Suncoast Broadway Dinner Theatre in Hudson, Florida; and Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota, Florida. Locally, Scott has also musically directed for Aspire Community Theatre (Spamalot, Into the Woods), Lake City Playhouse (Miracle on 34th Street), Coeur d'Alene High School (Mamma Mia, Les Miserables School Edition), and Christian Youth Theater North Idaho (Willy Wonka, Mary Poppins).


Megan Ruth Smith

Assistant Director, Assistant Choreographer, and Female Ensemble
Megan Ruth Smith is a Pacific Northwest director, choreographer, performer and teaching artist. A graduate of Central Washington University with a BFA in Musical Theatre, Cum Laude, Megan has worked across the northwest and beyond! Credits include an international tour of The Magic Flute (Italy/Bulgaria), teaching tap at Seattle’s Cornish College of the Arts, holding the resident choreographer/dance instructor position in Central Washington University's BFA Musical Theatre program (Go Wildcats!), working in entertainment at Walt Disney World and more. Jamie Sciarrio

Life is short, so at the ripe old age of 55, Jamie and her husband of 27 years, Jerry, are hitting the road looking for adventure! Erin McSwain

Costume Designer
Erin Lee is ecstatic to return to Coeur d'Alene Summer theatre. Her love of historic clothing, together with her sewing skills, makes this job a joy! She has been designing and building impactful costumes for over 45 years. Creating pieces to help bring characters to life is very fulfilling. She loves a challenge. Some of the projects she is most proud of: "Once on this Island", "Bring It On", "Be More Chill", "Sunday In the Park With George", "Gypsy", and most recently, "Secret Garden" and "Little Shop of Horrors". Jeremy Whittington

Scenic Designer
Jeremy Whittington (Scenic Designer) is a multi-disciplinary artist specializing in design and performance. He is the Program Director for Spokane Arts, a regional organization dedicated to uplifting artists and arts organizations through funding and collaboration. Jeremy has served as Artistic Director and Resident Designer for many theaters over the last few decades, most recently at Stage Left Theater (2019-2024). He was named one of the Top 10 Emerging Leaders of the Pacific Northwest in 2023 and received the Governor’s Arts & Heritage Luminary Award in 2022 for keeping the arts alive during the pandemic. Ryan Dill

Sound Designer
Ryan is thrilled to join Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre for his inaugural season. Educated at Purdue University, Dill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and the Audio Engineering Society certification from the Recording Workshop of Ohio. Ryan rides the sound waves across this beautiful country providing an array of emotions at the Smoky Mountain Opry, equalizing frequencies at the Grand Majestic Theatre, elevating levels at Dollywood, and gaining rhythm with American Queen Voyages. Mr. Dill always comes back to Tennessee for the love of his life, his nine-year-old little lady, Ada. Ryan hopes you enjoy the show.


Alana Shepherd

Lighting Designer
Alana is an award-winning lighting designer and the founding principal of Intangible Light, an architectural and theatrical lighting design firm located in Spokane, Washington. She also just ended her tenure as Interim Managing/Artistic Director at Stage Left Theater. Before returning to Spokane and to theatre in 2020, she was a part of the New York City architectural lighting world for 15 years. She has a BA in Theatre from Eastern Washington University, and an MFA in Lighting Design from Carnegie Mellon University. Notable architectural projects include: Harriet Tubman Monument, Newark, NJ; Times Square Ball (ALD/programmer – IESNY Lumen Citation), NYC; W Hotel Times Square (IES Award of Merit), NYC; Thompson Hotel Miami Beach (IES Award of Merit). Recent stage productions include Ride the Cyclone, Minister of Sorrow, Macbeth, Pippin, and Fun Home (Stage Left Theater); Fiddler on the Roof, The Secret Garden, and Little Shop of Horrors (Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre); and Amélie (University of Idaho). Her designs for Stage Left’s productions of Pass Over and Sweeney Todd earned regional and national awards from AACT.


Carrie York

Props Designer
Carrie Anne York enjoys working both backstage and onstage - whether she’s creating props, playing a Gypsy in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Aspire Community Theatre), running a spotlight, singing in a Chorus for over six seasons, or even playing Miranda in The Tempest (San Juan College), she is always excited and thankful to be a part of the Theatre community! Mike Chapman

Technical Director
Mike holds a dual BFA in Stage Management and Lighting Design from Western Oregon University. In 25 years of fun, his work spans from Las Vegas’ Strip to New York’s 42nd Street, from Timberlake Productions to the Gershwin Entertainment Corporation. And for the last decade, sailing up America’s Riverways. After nearly 200 productions, Mr. Chapman is honored to join Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre’s talented family of artists. Mike honors his parents, Jim and Kathy, who cheered the successes, encouraged to try again, and stifled laughter when it was well-deserved. Chapman thanks you for joining us at the theatre, where our childhood wonder takes over. While in your seat, he invites you to lean forward and engage. Welcome to the magic!


Nick Thorpe

Music Supervisor, Audio Consultant
Mr. Thorpe has been active as a musician, composer, arranger, and producer for the past 40 years. Nick holds both Bachelors and Masters degrees in music from Indiana University. Nick composed and produced original scores for Lance Burton, Radio City Music Hall, Friedrichstadt Palast in Berlin, and Hilton Conrad-Jupitor's show Innervre, and served as musical director for the National Association of Homebuilders, Ice Capades, MGM on Ice, and Warner Brothers on Ice. Nick has also orchestrated for the Disney animation series The Emperor's New School and Phineas and Ferb, and movies Leroy and Stitch and Phineas and Ferb-Across the 2nd Dimension. Mr. Thorpe currently serves as musical director for Carnival Cruise Lines Playlist Productions.
