Sorry to talk about an older show but i did love Thoroughly Modern Millie when i saw it on a tour over in the UK. I was wondering how the three great actresses of broadway portrayed one of my favourite characters if all time-Mrs Meers. Which portryal did you prefer? Do you have any photos or clips?
Thanks

I saw it pre-Broadway in La Jolla, when Pat Carroll did it and there was no need for the "Asian" makeup. She was conniving, world-weary, grumpy, and hysterical.

I saw Harriet Harris on Broadway, and she was hysterical. By the 2nd act, she was getting laughter just by walking onto the sate.

Beatrice Lillie is the only Mrs. Meers. All the others are pale imitations.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Harriet Harris was pretty amazing in the role, but I still would have loved to have seen Pat Carroll.

Was there any specific reason she did not make the transfer?

Don't worry about it. This is the place where people obsess about "Carrie", "Ballroom", and the 1980 revival of "West Side Story".
