nothing against theatre, i love it! itd be a dream conme true to even be in an ensemble...
but for anyone who has been watching Idol, you know that Adam shines a lot brighter on that stage than anywhere else. He is allowed to be himself, show his range (which is absolutely amazing how high he can get than go sooo low.)
After Satisfaction, Black or White, and now Ring of Fire..
wow! this weeks performance of his completly blew me away!
WOW! lol theres no words to describe it!!
Adam may have been amazing in Wicked, but I truly think he was meant to be a recording artist! HE IS AN OUTRAGOUS SINGER!

Yeah, he is too good for musical theatre. I am glad you, and him, both realize that. :/

To be completely honest, I thought his 'rendition' of "RING OF FIRE" was absolutely horrendous. I think he's talented, and admittedly, I've never seen him live, but if I'm not all that WOW'd by his stuff on "Idol". Maybe it's just me...

^it's certainly not just you, I also thought his performance last night was a little bit awful. After the he does the "solo" thing for a few years, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he comes back to broadway...just like half of the other Idol alums.

Just to chime in, I actually really enjoyed his performance. I appreciated the different arrangement and style, and thought his vocals were on a higher level than most of the other contestants. The rest just seemed...bland.

It obviously is not going to be everyone's cup of tea but it was still well performed, imo.

And heo1128, I'm sure Mr. Lambert would gladly return to Broadway if it means he can continue to do what it seems he loves, which is perform.

As another poster said, American Idol is the road to Broadway

Ring of fire was BAD...

I watched it thinking he's doing exactly what David Cook did, change the song to fit his type of music. It reminded me how David Cook did the song "Hello". It was almost too close to that.

exactly!! I totally thought of David Cook's 'new' arrangements, too. It'll be interesting to see if this keeps up.

"Ring of Fire" was just horrendous. I'm sure vocally he was ok...but I couldn't get past that horrid arrangement. You do NOT mess with The Man In Black like...THAT!!!! Gross!

Too good for musical theatre?

Uhh...I'm pretty sure musical theatre singers are a lot more talented than some recording artists today.

I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&. "Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."

Recent rumors would have it that a composer behind a certain vampire musical that premiered in German but flopped in the other big G (Gotham, to be precise) has been courting Mr. Lambert for studio work. Maybe he won't be that far from theater after all.

This thread is so silly. If his recording career fizzles (likely), you bet you're gonna see Adam Lambert on Broadway.

You do NOT mess with The Man In Black like...THAT!!!! Gross!

Object on behalf of your own ears, don't object on Johnny Cash's behalf. I was introduced to Johnny Cash via his genre bending covers of modern rock songs, I hardly think he's rolling over in his grave.

I have to strongly disagree with the original poster. I think he is VERY untalented. He is a one-tricky pony that manages to fool the judges into thinking he has range. All he does is scream, whine, and breathe heavily. I'd like to see him have a sing-off with any of the past male winners, or with another pop voice on Broadway (Cheyenne Jackson for instance). Ring of Fire was atrocious, and he deserved to be sent packing for that performance. Poor Alexis, she was voted off to early.

Okay, first of all, "his" rendition of Ring of Fire was not his rendition. He did not arrange it, Jeff Buckley did.

If he got up there and sang Garth Brooks or Brad Paisley he would have looked and sounded ridiculous. Kudos to him for not pretending to be someone he is not.

I personally liked it. He is a breath of fresh air amongst a bunch of clones (with the exception of a few, of course.)

If Adam Lambert is done with musical theater, then good riddance. I personally don't find him to have much talent (there are much better people on Idol -um Lil Rounds?! Yes please-) and he (from what I've heard) already has a huge ego. I don't know... Good luck to him in the recording industry but I am not a fan. I'll take Danny Goeke and the fantastic Lil Rounds over him any day of the week.

I can say, with certainty, even if he wins, Adam Lambert will never be a successful recording artist.

"I can say, with certainty, even if he wins, Adam Lambert will never be a successful recording artist."

That's a pretty serious claim.
Not that I actually care, but how can you seriously say this? Are you behind the music industry?

Sorry... Too good for theatre?
Theatre "generally" is home to true stars, who can give great live performances.

Just thought i'd say that.
