I tried it and won. I got great center seats, the view is better than people make it seem and I am short.

There were probably about 50 people there on a Saturday Matinee.

50 people there, and how many seats are available?

ok, sorry to thread jack, but I have a question.

When is the earliest we could see discount codes? I know probably not for the majority of the Summer, but any chance of early September?

Lots and lots of people there last night. I was quite surprised. It's currently a hard one to win. Seats are good though, better than Legally Blonde as the apron has a different shape and doesn't curve into the seats as much.

SRO if it's sold out.

There were more than 50 Saturday night, but it's hard to get a headcount with all the random passerby. They should really call lotto around the corner by the stagedoor where it's quieter.

This is a very sketchy, very shady lotto. Why does the lotto guy need to go inside, away from everyone to pull the names, then suddenly reappear with a list of winners?

I totally agree. Why can't he just pull out names in front of everyone like they do at In the Heights or Rent?

They pulled the names outside the night I went. Although the names were 'taken' in the lobby, they did pull them in front of our eyes under the marquee.

They pulled them outside when I went, too.

I went last night and they took everyone's names, took the bin with the names into the theatre, pulled out the names out of everyone's view, and reappeared with the handful of winners. Definitely sketchy.

How odd that it's so inconsistent where the names are pulled.

Makes it even more sketchy.

Wicked pulled the names inside when I last tried at Christmas time (my friend won - her luck is awesome), but since the box office/doors are all windowed, you can clearly see the names being pulled and collected until they've filled all the tickets, then the guy stepped outside to call winner names.

This just sounds strange if no one can see them pull the names.

The Wicked lotto is exceedingly ethical. The guy stands in the lobby and pulls the names in full view of everyone. You're not standing in the lobby with him, but you can watch him. On a number of occasions, I've seen cast members lose the lotto, when they were there trying to help friends win.

When I did the WSS lotto, the guy was set up by the trash can in the lobby. You wrote your name on a slip of paper, then he put them all into a pencil case. He then disappeared into the theater's inner lobby, where no one could see him, and reappeared a few minutes later with his list of names. Very shady.

A pencil case? When I went, the names were dropped in an orange plastic shopping bag. Can't the Palace afford a bucket?

the first time I went they pulled them in view of everyone, but this past saturday they pulled the names inside. Very sketchy. They used to do that at A chorus Line and they had to stop the lottery.

^^A Chorus Line had a lotto?

I agree that the Wicked Lotto is very ethical and extremely organized. For the turn out they get, it is important and appreciated. Sounds like West Side Story could use a little organization since it is gaining popularity.

Edit: Did a search (because it is my friend!). Ah, updated on the Chorus Line lotto issues now. Updated On: 3/11/09 at 01:31 PM

Serious sketchiness at lotto tonight.

My friend and I were trying lotto. At 5:59, a girl my friend recognized as a BWW poster went into the theatre, looked around for the lotto guy, then came back out. She asked where the guy was and my friend explained they had stopped taking names and had already taken them back (inside, where they check for repeats). So she had missed the cut-off. She said "Oh, that's fine, my friend already put her name in."

Lotto starts. My friend recognized the girl pulling names. She also recognized that Lotto-puller was friends with BWW poster.

So what happens? Lotto-puller pulls name of BWW poster who arrived too late to legally enter.

Yeah. Anyone know who I should speak to at the theatre about this?

Don't speak to anyone because when people started complaining about the A Chorus Line lotto doing the exact same thing they just got rid of it all together.
