I think every opinion I hold is unpopular which probably means I have bad taste, but here goes anyway.

--I hate Into the Woods. SITPWG is my favorite Sondheim, but only because I loved the story so much.
--I loved Sunset Blvd and Wicked and In the Heights.
--I think Idina Menzel is pretty great.
--I don't care about grammar or spelling either.
--I love Gossip Girl and America's Next Top Model and Mad Men and The Wire.
--I hated the movie of Phantom of the Opera but thought Emmy Rossum wasn't that bad.
--I liked Spring Awakening but don't like Duncan Sheik that much.

I don't think Cheyenne Jackson is that hot

I liked Cats AND Starlight Express

I think Patti is WAY over rated along with Sondheim

I think A Chorus Line is the most overly manipulative piece of theatre ever written

I don't think Cheyenne Jackson is hot, either. He's talented, and he seems like a really nice, funny guy... but I just think he looks... sinister.

I liked Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd. But I don't think Johnny Depp is remotely hot, either, and I've never been a big fan of his-- the only other movies I liked him in were the Pirates ones, and even then his acting started to grate on me. But I thought he had a very nice voice, and I was really surprised by his Sweeney.

I've never liked George Hearn's Sweeney Todd. And I was familiar with him for about four and a half years before I saw Johnny Depp in the role. (I still like Len Cariou the best, though.)

Ellen Greene is the most underrated musical theatre actress ever.

Eden Espinosa > Idina Menzel (but Idina is talented too)

The Secret Garden deserves more respect.

Avenue Q absolutely deserved to beat Wicked. It's a much better show than Wicked is on basically every level.

Helena Bonham Carter was brilliant in the Sweeney film. I don't care what her voice sounded like, her acting was fantastic.

Daphne Rubin-Vega and Raul Esparza have my two favorite Broadway voices.

Company > Sweeney Todd (but I love Sweeney still)

I completely love Spring Awakening, and I am absolutely heart broken it is closing.

I thought the Little Mermaid was fun, not brilliant, belonged at Disney World, not on Broadway, but was still fun

Patti LuPone is a little overrated.

I think the Hairspray movie was very well done, and Zac Efron was great (NO, I am NOT a HSM fan.)

I HATED Mamma Mia on stage, even though it was my first Broadway show, but I liked the movie, and saw it twice in theatres

I think Jonathan Groff killed Mindy

I thought Patti was just "ok" in Gypsy.

Nothing wrong with getting a signature on a playbill after a show, but the extent to which some people take stage-dooring is juvenile and creepy.

Disney shows suck (except Lion King) and have lowered the overall standards of musical theater.

Yes ALW has only written one song in his life, but I still enjoy his scores very much.

"Woman" from Pirate Queen is a great song.

- I absolutely detested Spring Awakening.
- Don't get why Rent is so hyped.
- Thought Xanadu was so-so.
- Didn't like Forbidden Broadway or Mary Poppins.

-I love the second act of Sunday in the Park With George.
-Eden Espinosa has a fantastic voice. Idina... not so much.
-I don't mind Sutton Foster, but I don't see why she is so amazing.

I wouldn't see "Rent", "Wicked", or "Billy Elliot" with your money.

Ann Reinking can dance... thats about it. Her singing is unexciting and her acting is extremely bland.

I don't care if someone calls a cast recording a soundtrack...I think it is hilarious (and pretentious) that it upsets some people on these boards to the degree that it does.

I also don't care if someone doesn't use the search button. Who cares if a topic comes up twice? Don't open the thread if you don't want to revisit the discussion.

I second Cheyenne Jackson being seriously overrated. Although I don't think his voice is unpleasant, take away the microphone and all you have left is a generic 1990's Boy Band Singer. The same is true of Matthew Morrison, in my opinion. Also, I don't think Jackson or Morrison are Leading Men material and exhibit little charisma or presence, at least in the performances in which I've seen them.

I absolutely love the 1962 film version of GYPSY and think Rosalind Russell was the greatest actress ever to play Madame Rose and the only one who got the character right on the mark. I couldn't care less that Lisa Kirk dubbed the majority of the vocals because it was still Russell acting them out brilliantly on the screen; however Lisa Kirk's complete vocal of "Rose's Turn", which is only on the film's sound track album, is the greatest performance of this number ever, even better than Merman's, in my opinion, which is as this thread suggests, is probably an unpopular one.

Spring Awakening is by far one of the worst, if not the worst (Young Frankenstein comes pretty close), piece of theatre I have ever seen.

I hate the music from Next To Normal.

I love Disney on Broadway.

I absolutely adored 13.

I prefer the first act of "Grey Gardens" to the second.
I think the film version of "Chicago" is superior to the current revival.
While Rent was open, I had no desire to see it. Now, I do.
I don't care how amazing of a dancer or actor you are- if you are not a great singer, you should not be in a singing role on Broadway.
I also think Eden>Idina, but Julia Murney and SJB are better than both.
I've honestly enjoyed every Broadway show I've seen. I've never had the desire to walk out.
I really like Mary Poppins, though it's lost some of its luster. I thought TLM was excellent, too!
I love Phantom.
I wish Depp, Carter, and numerous others had been dubbed in Sweeney, but I enjoyed their acting and the film in general.
I thought Dance of the Vampires was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

I listened to Ethel Merman and tried hard to enjoy it, but it didn't work. I just don't like her voice. :/

I loved the Hairspray movie. I saw it in theatres twice. Maybe because I hadn't seen it live yet (maybe my opinion will change when I see it live tommorow) but yeah.

I thought Mamma Mia was sort of enjoyable, but one of the worser musicals, at least the movie.

I love the RENT movie. It was what got me into musicals and overall I think it's pretty damn good.

I find The Music Man and My Fair Lady sort of boring. They're good, just sort of boring.

I did not like Singin' In The Rain the first time I saw it. I saw some of it on TV the other day and realized it was better than I thought, but still.

I bought the OKLAHOMA! cast album, and I haven't gotten through it yet. Halfway through the cd I turned it off (it wasn't bad, it just didn't grab me)

I liked the Phantom movie. I am not sure why so many people are complaining about the Christine in the movie, I thought she was good.

A musical can be wonderful even if the score is not so great or memorable (case in point: The Drowsy Chaperone).

I don't understand the ridiculous amount of hatred Spring Awakening gets. I can understand it not being a person's cup of tea, but to hate it AS much as some people claim to hate it just seems gratuitous. We get it. You're a *real* theatre fan. Whatevs.

I enjoy Barbara Walsh's "The Ladies Who Lunch" more than I enjoy Elaine's.

- I think any opinion you can have about Patti LuPone is not unpopular. sorry, you're not unique for loving or hating her.
- I like the book for Finian's Rainbow. and the movie, for that matter.
- Kelli O'Hara bores me. but I've said this before.
- I think it would be wildly unfair if the Billy boys won a Tony.
- I love Bernadette Peters, but I thought Jenna Russell was much better in Sunday.

I think the film version of "Chicago" is superior to the current revival.

Is this an unpopular opinion? Either way, I agree. The movie is much stronger than the current revival. And I though Richard Gere was the perfect choice for Billy.

I thought In the Heights was fun, but not the awesome piece of theater I was expecting it to be based on what I read.
