I would think you'd have to make them. (Although at Target last year I got a great pair of wire rimmed GREEN lensed glasses.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I wish I had more theatre friends. I want to go as Hunter and Jeffy this Hallowe'en. re: broadway halloween costumes

Hmmm, maybe my old schoolfriend would be up for going as Shakespearean kings... I can kick the ass of any French we run into, she can limp around and assassinate children. ;D

You can make them with your sweet sewing skills, like I do. I'm not going as a Broadway character this year, but I'm making an Inga costume (from Young Frankenstein) for my friend.

TheActr, if you do that you MUST post pictures. Anyway, I'll be in Philly seeing Robin Williams that night, so who knows what I'll do. I went as Mark from RENT a few years ago, though...

Oh, and the year before that I had bought a rod-operated puppet that looked kinda like Nicky from Ave. Q. and just went as a guy with his hand up a puppet's ass.

For a halloween party years ago, I went as Larry from A Chorus Line. It was an easy costume, jazz pants & shoes and a simple shirt with 17 on it. One person got it while I had to explain the costume to the other 50 people there. Never again will I attempt a broadway costume at a halloween party.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I went as Mimi a few years ago using my own clothes but it sucked and as always no one knew who I was supposed to be. This year I think I'll try to be more obvious. I've been thinking Minnie Mouse.

I prefer Broadway costumes. I like it when no one knows who I am as opposed to all the people dressing up as Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd and thinking how "cool" they are.

I was Elle Woods last year, and I convinced my best guy friend to go as Emmet Forrest. It was pretty sweet.
I even had a stuffed dog that I carried in my purse who was Bruiser Woods.
This year, though, I have tech week for my current show the week before Halloween, and Halloween's opening night. So if I dress up, its DEFINITLY going to be something super comfortable

With my modest sewing skills, I converted an old costume into Fantine's "I Dreamed a Dream" dress. It was cool.

The opening costume. It looks more like a costume than My Strongest Suit.

I am dressing up as Ursula the Sea Witch, but with the purplish-skinned colour scheme from the film instead of the more greenish/whiteish Broadway colour scheme.

Last Halloween, I was Sir Percy Blakeney from "The Scarlet Pimpernel," my best friend was Chauvelin, my sister was Marguerite, and my brother was a guy getting guillotined.

Summer before, I was King Arthur from Spamalot and my friend was one of the Spanish Inquisition guys.

Two years ago I went as Sweeney Todd, Michael Cerveris-style. This year, a group of my friends and I are dressing up as characters from Rocky Horror. Also, I was a cat from Cats when I was seven. Oh, the memories.

I'm pretty sure Sarah Palin will be THE costume this year.

I read somewhere though that she has dressed up as Tina Fey before.

I usually do Broadway costumes, but it is hard when you go to parties that aren't full of fellow theatre dorks. Plus I usually volunteer for a Trick-or-Treat alternative in town which requires "child friendly" costumes.

In the past I've gone as Velma Kelly, Opehlia, Eponine, the Lady of the Lake, and Drunk Judy Garland. I think this year I'm going to break the trend and go as Tonks from Harry Potter. Cheap and easy costume that should translate well with the kiddies. Plus I've always wanted pink hair re: broadway halloween costumes

It's always ALWAYS more fun and inventive if you make it yourself. I went as Tobias from the Sweeney Todd revival 2 years ago (concentration camp stripes, gaunt face, violin and all), and was thrilled!
