It was 1954,I was 17 and leaving an afternoon NY Ranger game at the old MSG.I walked down W49th St past the Coronet Theatre (now the Eugene O'Neil.) I saw that Burgess Meredith and Martha Scott were starring there in "The Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker." I bought a $1.75 seat for that evening. When the curtain rose with that loud whisper, the lights came blazzing on and stage erupted into life, I was hooked for life. Now, 50 years later and hundreds of plays from New York, London to Sydney (and most stops in between)the magic has never left and my mind clearly remembers the excitement of that first moment in the theatre.

Even though when I was younger I went and saw The Lion King and also would go and see Sesame Street live at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ, I was never really interested in theatre or even considered making that my major or what I wanted to do with my life. I had many ideas of possible future jobs after college like psychiatrist, funeral director(It was when I was really into Six Feet Under), exterminator, parapsychologist, and other things, but never acting.

It was my sophmore year of high school and I had seen on the news a story about Broadway and they were in Shubert Alley and I saw one of the show posters there was for Little Shop of Horrors and that peeked my interest, and from there I managed to get tickets for my birthday to see the revival of Little Shop at the then Virgina, now August Wilson theatre and I was just hooked on it and hooked on theatre. I never had any interest in it before, but seeing that production changed me and I became a theatre goer after that and now along with attending Broadway shows, I'm a theatre major and I have done one show at my college so far(I was a late bloomer with the acting and I auditioned for two other shows at my college and I got rejected from both).

So the thing that got me hooked on Broadway was the revival of Little Shop of Horrors.
