After seeing Bjorn & Benny from ABBA and Harry Conick Jr. taking stabs at writing a musical, who do you think should attempt it next? Personally, I think Ben Folds could write a great score, after hearing "Fred Jones, Part 2" and "Carrying Cathy". Ideas?
"There are only two worthwhile things to leave behind when we depart this world of ours: children and art."

Personally, I thought Adam Schlesinger would have written a great musical. But... then he did.
I literally laughed out loud, rose.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Danny Elfman Nightmare Before Christmas etc. are musicals I know, but I'd love to see a stage show by him, with obvious direction and design by Tim Burton

Ani DiFranco and Paula Cole! Not together, of course, but these are the two best songwriters I've ever listened to.
Ani DiFranco is so clear and so prolific, I could come up with a musical two hours long, and only be using a fraction of her material.
Paula Cole, though she doesn't have as much material, paints such haunting pictures with her lyrics and melody, I can only imagine what a great musical it would be. To say nothing of her vocal prowess; her range is out of control! Seriously, if you've never REALLY listened to her, download some stuff...she's a genius.
Technically, Carole King has written a musical. She wrote the music for Maurice Sendak's REALLY ROSIE, which was done as an animated TV special. There is also a stage version.
Actually Weez, my second post was completely true. Mellencamp and King are working on a musical and Trent is scoring a musical version of The Fight Club.
