"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
I think awards like this are great, because we can see what everyone else thinks about Broadway. After all, it is a business. It's nice to get Tony Awards, but the best thing to get is lots of money from the box office. :O) Maybe I am just biased because I love Young Frankenstein so much and I hope it sweeps these awards. (and just so we're clear, I only "like" The Little Mermaid, but She's In Love is very catchy, and I also love In the Heights, but Passing Strange...blech!)
I agree, Quibbler. And I like to see talented people on the list who didn't get recognized by the Tonys. People like...
Roger Bart Sierra Boggess Tituss Burgess Sutton Foster Sherie Rene Scott Megan Mullally Claire Danes Jennifer Garner Brooks Ashmanskas F. Murray Abraham David Morse Christine Baranski Rosie Perez Marisa Tomei Jackie Hoffman Mary Testa Laura Osnes
I voted The 39 Steps for Best Play and Best Ensemble. It's the only play this season I've seen cuz I saw it at the Huntington and I loved it.

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
I agree: I think these awards are a good thing. The Broadway community should realize that the opinion of grandma from Missouri or a teenie from West Palm Beach is worth as much as theirs. Tourists love lavish shows like Mermaid and YF and they have every right to do so and vote for the shows they love.
If that were the case, why didn't it get more nominations? Wouldn't you think Jenny Powers, Matt Saldevar or even the Frenchy girl would have popped up on the lists?
It's more than likely going to win for onstage pair and male and female breakthrough performances. And to be honest, it doesn't deserve to win or be nominated for anything unless it's to award it for being complete garbage so the fact that it got as many nominations as it even did is irritating for me...and the fact that it will win any or even has a shot at winning is even more irritating. It's a terrible, terrible production.
