I enjoy the German recording, so I look forward to this one.
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
Will this have the same orchestrations as the Broadway and German recordings?
"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott
Anyone know where to order it online? Can't find it on amazon.co.jp or Dress Circle. I want to pre-order it, because there is a 40% chance I could be out of the country on 7/23, and I love getting things like this on the first day.
I actually think they have new orchestrations. They have an orchesration on the music page on their shiki website of NOMTW and it is different than the OBC.
I love the German cast recording to death, but I would've loved it more if it had new orchestrations. I've heard their "No One Mourns The Wicked" orchestrations, and they sound slightly different than the US/Germany/UK orchestrations.
COOOOLkid, thank you so much for the information!!! Not only does it come out three days before my birthday, it comes out about two weeks before I leave the country for good, so I can buy it to bring back with me. I'm really happy! Between Wicked and the new Hana Yori Dango otome for the DS, it's going to be a fabulous month. ^_^ (But my poor wallet...!!)
musicaltheatrefan3, give Amazon a little time. The Japanese site is notoriously slow when it comes to sticking up pre-orders, even for best-selling albums from popstars. Most recently, I recall that it took them ages to pre-list the latest albums from YUI and Arashi within the past few months. I was checking the site weekly until they were listed.
Just because a press release/article/official announcement/etc. has gone out, it doesn't mean it'll be on Amazon right away.
I'm positive they'll list it, though. For one thing, Œ€’cŽl‹G [Shiki (Four Seasons) Theatre Company] has several albums listed on Amazon (http://amazon.co.jp/s/ref=nb_ss_m?__mk_ja_JP=%83J%83%5E%83J%83i&url=search-alias%3Dpopular&field-keywords=%8C%80%92c%8El%8BG&Go.x=13&Go.y=9) For another, the last time I was in Tokyo in...February? March? There were Wicked posters all over the place, and even commercials on the train to Yokohama. There's also promo for it in Osaka due to the short production performing at USJ. And the English-language album is also available, so I have no doubt that it WILL be listed. We just have to give it a little more time. :)
Same as it is for UK, US, Canada, China, France Amazon. You make an account and use your credit card. You can use your address if it is outside of Japan.
I purchased this CD from amazon.co.jp and I love it! Unfortunately, it's all in Japanese so I'd be interested in an English title or any other info available. Thanks!

I can't read Japanese well enough to understand what the story is actually about, but there are some productions photos and other interesting things etc. Oh, and here's some video.
Ok....another question. What's the English title for the CD (black cover with colorful Japanese lettering) on the second page between the "Evita" and "A Chorus Line" CDs? Thanks again!
