"A tipster says (Jane Krakowski) the '30 Rock' star has been tapped for the part (of Lola) opposite Sean Hayes of 'Will & Grace' who would play the Devil, Mr. Applegate. ... Two sources with knowledge of negotiations said the deal had yet to be inked, but was expected to be finalized very soon." Updated On: 4/10/08 at 10:05 AM
Wasn't Sean "Macho man" Hayes supposed to be in "Promises Promises"? This is a much better part for him. He can play a sexless, Paul Lynde-like Satan perfectly.
Sean Hayes? Was Boy George or Ru Paul not available?

I actually don't mind the thought of these two - I'd love seeing them on stage, and Jane can sing, and ... I actually don't know if Sean can but I want to see his versatility.
sean hayes sings rather well, evidence of which is found on youtube (his duet of "unforgettable" with megan mullally)
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
Didn't Sean Hayes star in a production (or a workshop) of the musical NERDS in the West Coast? I would love to see these two together, they are both funny and talented. Krakowski is a thousand times more appropriate for Lola than Hathaway whom I thought would have been miscast in the role. Krakowski has been missing from the NY stage for too long.

Man, it's too bad Cheyenne and Matt are busy with their respective shows.
They would be AMAZING Young Joes!

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I agree with WannaBe, plus from what I hear from the people who were at the XANADU workshops, Krakowski and Jackson have insane chemistry. They would make a nice pairing. Wonder who they are looking at for Joe.

Well, that's their regular Encores! season purpose. Their Summer Stars purpose is supposed to be revivals with stars playing the roles they were born to play. Though I'm not sure they kept the "born to play part" for this season. I was disappointed by the choice of DAMN YANKEES as well but if Krakowski gets cast as Lola and on top of that, we get Sean Hayes as Applegate, you can count me in.

"What I would have given to see On a Clear Day or Purlie transfer to full blown productions after their Encores stint."
Encores has slowly been getting away from their original mission. When they did Bye Bye Biridie that was pretty much the signal that it was Bye Bye Encores.
Purlie would not have transfered to Broadway. The show hasn't aged well.

Man, I loved Purlie. At least there's a good video floating around.
Actually as far as Birdie is concerned, it hasn't been on broadway at all since the oBC, right? I remember a tour with Tune and Reinking, and then talk about bringing it here, but that never materialized. I know it gets done to death regionally and community/high school wise.

That's why it was a poor choice for Encores. Plus the tv movie. The regular Encores season is supposed to present shows that will not necessarily appear on Broadway.

NO WAY. Sean Hayes? Unbelievable. I love that casting.

Ah yes, 'The Jerry Lewis Show'! we had that in London for a few months! Painful!
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!''
Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'
WHEN is this slated for? (Forgive my brain freeze.)
