THE VISIT is being done at Signature Theater with Chita Rivera and George Hearn, so it could be on its way to Broadway.

SKIN OF OUR TEETH, or, as it's called now, ALL ABOUT US, is practically unwatchable, I'm sorry to say.

I thought 9 to 5 was not opening to March. That is a long time for it to stay empty. Maybe something like Grinch might go there

How did I forget this! I guess I have to turn in my Kander and Ebb Official Shill Card. Thanks for the reminder/info Rath.

Do the show recoup.

I don't know what to say...

On a personal and professional level, I feel horrible for the cast and crew (and) everyone else involved - wishing them nothing but the absolute best with their future works. I know that the creative team put their hearts into this production from 'day 1' and I think it showed - The show amounted to 2 hours and 40 minutes of freshness that B'way hasn't accurately felt in decades. Here's to a healthy run of yet another unearthed Kander and Ebb show, and perhaps another 'strut along the bords' for Mr. Holmes' writing. Wishful thinking? Perhaps. All my best to the bunch at the Hirschfeld!

Let it's next tenant be just as smashing! re: Curtains Closing June 29

I am so incredibly saddened by this news. The show deserved a much much longer run. I might go to the closing performance.

I cried after Jill Paice's last performance. I can only imagine what I'm going to be like when the show closes.

Why is this sad?

They had a healthy run. They won a Tony award. And let's be honest, the show is not as good as we're all giving it credit for. I loved CURTAINS, but it's hardly the pinnacle of musical theatre.

I'm happy they had a good run, I wish them all luck, it was a good time.

I'm just sad 'cause I won't be able to see it again and it was the first show I saw on Broadway.*

*OK, "All Shook Up" was the first show, but I have done the best to block that experience from my memory. Let's say it was the first show I enjoyed on Broadway.

I'm sad because the show never recouped, and because it might be the last Kander & Ebb show we'll see on Broadway. Also, the idea of seeing a replacement cast with some top-notch Broadway actors always seemed exciting to me.

...Something tells me this won't be the last Kander & Ebb show to come our way, Ray. I would bank on *something* to come of THE VISIT much sooner than later. Just wanna toss it out there to munch on for a bit. re: Curtains Closing June 29

This show has so many fantastic factors to it. I giggled like mad at the top of Act 2 ("He Did It"). And how brilliant was the design Anna Louizos created for the grid/catwalk scene? Direction, choreography, music, performances, set, costumes... while not all were at 100% throughout the entire show, each had their moments to shine brightly.

Here's to hoping we see at least one more K&E show on Broadway...

Very sad to hear this news.....does anyone know if it has been at the TKTS booth lately? I would assume so if it's not doing well. I'm going through a lack of money period now but I would love to see this show again before it closes.

I was looking forward to seeing this in August, but my mom was ecstatic about it. Now she's crushed, even more at me, since I usually can tell when this is gonna happen.

Did anyone see this coming? Who cares...I'm bummed because now it means I might have to see Phantom again. re: Curtains Closing June 29...

I don't think ANYONE was expecting this, honestly. Unless, of course, 'something is in the cards' as per a future tenant taking the Hirschfeld by storm this coming fall. Stay tuned on that front, for sure! As an aside, it was doing very well, actually. Business was solid enough, the cast was set-and-ready to play through August 31. Damn shame. I *still* can't find the words right now. I know, I know, "Mike, kid, get over it!" I will get over it, but for now, it's just ... so sudden. It deserves a longer run. Sure, it's been 'hearlthy' since opening, and yes, DHP *did* take the TONY, but even still - Mr. Kander, Mr. Ebb. Mr. Stone, Mr. Holmes, Mr. Ashford, the rest of the creative team, along with the company. It was a wonderful time at the theatre - Old School for a New School Audience. I'll miss it a whole heckova lot. That's all I hafta say for now. I'm sorry for rambling, truly I am.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I really DISLIKED this show immensely. That being said, I'm still suprised that they are taking it down so soon...almost everyone had a terrible winter...they always do, things are just starting to pick up.

(Posted tongue-in-cheek) Maybe we'll find out there is some "PRODUCER" type shenanigans going on...if they re-coup, they'd have to start paying back $ and that would be impossible! So they are going to close and run! (Again, JUST KIDDING!)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

So sad re: Curtains Closing June 29
And let it recoup until the closing night! It would be sad to see bad shows recoup and good shows don't which only encourages producers to get a new jukebox show...

I want The Visit now! Or perhaps The Minstrel Show (one of the other works in progress Ebb still wrote lyrics to, and Kander could finish off).

They could even get their never produced beginner show "Golden Gate" into a production.

It's a clever show with some great songs and performances. Too bad it never really found its audience. I think it will have lots of regional productions and hopefully tour.
I thought it would last the summer/contract extension at least.
