I forgot to say...I think it's incredibly worth it. Since October, I have seen the following shows courtesy of TDF...
Les Miz The Drowsy Chaperone The Grinch Cymbeline August: Osage County Phantom The Seafarer Xanadu The Farnsworth Invention Rock 'n Roll Next to Normal (twice) Sunday in the Park with George Passing Strange Legally Blonde The Homecoming November Spamalot and Gypsy this Monday night.
None of the shows cost me more than $38.50. It was definitely worth it.
From what Ive seen on here, it seems, that at least for students this isn't worth it. My first year in college I was able to see plenty for under 40 bucks without paying to join anything. Yes, you don't get to plan in advance and may not get the best seats, but still it was often cheaper just to rely on student rush. Otherwise you can usually find discounts close to 40 dollars anyway. It seems that there may be some marginal benifits, but not a large enough motivation for me to fork out the money. Heck, for 26.50 i could see August osage county again. (With apparently almost the same seats)
Definitely not for orchestra seats. I think the only time I've been in the mezz with tdf was one of the last performances of The Year of Magical Thinking, and that was front mezz. Maybe I've been lucky, but all the others I've gotten have been orchestra seats.

Its definitely worth it !!! I've had Orch seats for the Seafarer 5 times thru TDF- Those seats are normally $98, I believe, and the best discount that I have seen for these seats is $46. Also had 1st row once for "Little Sheba" and 3rd row the 2nd time.
Seafarer has a 26 dollar rush. Also, they had a discount going before Christmas and i saw it from orchestra seats for 26 dollars. and yes, you may not have orchestra seats, but you can usually find a discount for rear mezz or balcony thats around 40-50.
I love America. Just because I think gay dudes should be allowed to adopt kids and we should all have hybrid cars doesn't mean I don't love America.

I didn't see these questions addressed, so any help would be appreciated:
1. How much in advance are tix posted? 2. Are tix available on Sat NIGHTS? 3. How quickly do they process your application? (A few days, a few weeks?) 4. How many tix can you get w/your membership?
Thanks ahead of time.

1. Weeks/maybe even a month or so 2. Depends on the show 3. If you've got the credit card, you're in right away. Just gotta send them a copy of your ID. 4. Up to 10, give or take. All the same price.
thanks for the quick replies, I guess I'll be signing up!

Can you get ticket for both the matinee AND the evening show for the same day?

I haven't tried it on the same order, but I know when I order tickets to something I've gotten them to before, I just get a page saying I've ordered tickets to that in the past 180 days, am I sure I want them, and I just click yes and go to the order page.
So you might have to do 2 transactions, but you might not.

I found it to be very hit or miss. Sometimes you luck out and get really good seats and other not so much. Just don't go in with expectations that are too high.
I find some of the other TDF Patrons annoying. They have the nerve to complain about the seat locations when they only pay $30. But you know who is even worse? Play X Play patrons. They just pay a service fee and their tickets are free but they will complain in a heartbeat if they don't like their seat locations. Some of them look homeless too when they show up to the theatre. Officially, no, as the tickets are in your name at the box office. But they very rarely check IDs when you pick up the tickets (the only theater I've encountered that regularly checks is the Biltmore), so in reality, anyone can give your name and pick up the tickets.
