All the ballads from Zanna Don't...especially for gay couples, those songs are great...I Could Write Books, I Ain't Got Time, Do You Wish We could be in Love?...
"A Funny Thing Happened on my Way to Love" - from I Can Get it for you Wholesale
"You don't have to shout from now on I'm out of the kitchen What's more I can't stand your cigarette brand & I'm switchin' I'm unhappy with things the way they've occurred It is time to face facts and not mince a word Certain parties named 'Bogen' are getting the bird Au revoir, fare thee well and goodbye and I'll tell you why..."
"Could I Leave You?" -- FOLLIES "AND I AM TELLING YOU I'M NOT GOING" -- DREAMGIRLS "Without You" -- MY FAIR LADY "My Way or the Highway" -- THE LIFE "I'm Leaving You" -- THE LIFE "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" -- PROMISES PROMISES
"What a story........ everything but the bloodhounds snappin' at her rear end." -- Birdie

"The Devil Be Hittin' Me" -- Whitney
"We need people not to come to Broadway shows wearing shorts and flip-flops. We are working hard up here folks. Find a pair of socks."-Joanna Gleason
"I hear L. Ron Hubbard is gonna blow the ladies...and all that jazz! C'mon babe! We're gonna unicorn hug, I bought some NyQuil down....at Wal-Mart?!"-Bebe Neuwirth singing ATJ to Musical Mad Libs at DQYNJ :)
It is sad to see something you thought would last to end.
Though immediately I thought of how much I have come to appreciate this song..
Love is always lovely in the end- The Drowsy Chaperone.
Of course it is fun in the beginning but why can't it be lovely even after it has ended? Even if it ends harshly. You hopefully will learn and live to love again. At least that will be my hope for you. You can however try to go back and screw it all up again but I hope you think wisely in that instance before having to break up once more. Some relationships just have a beginning and an ending. When I could see some of my relationships like that it was easier for me to move on and accept the changes a break up will bring into my life.
Of course I often see Karma taking a bite out of the "accused" and that too can help you better move on, if that is the right choice for you.
This just occurred to me as I was playing Christmas CDs this morning...Hard Candy Christmas from Best Little whorehouse in Texas. It's a Broadway break up song in time with the holidays! It'll either cheer you up or make you suicidal.
The best ones in my opinion are: "I Don't Remember Christmas" from Starting Here, Starting Now
"Still Hurting"--- Last Five Years "If You Hadn't But You Did"--- Two on the Aisle "Wherever He Ain't"---- Mack and Mabel ANYTHING from High Fidelity, especially "Desert Island Top 5 Breakups", "She Goes", "Number 5 With a Bullet", and DEFINITELY "Goodbye and Good Luck" "Knowing When to Leave"--- Promises Promises
But MY favorite has always been "Single" from THE WEDDING SINGER.
"And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" is an I-Don't-Want-To-Break-Up-With-You song. I don't see any Get-Out-Of-Here lyrics. And "Still Hurting" does not make the girl feel stronger. If you listened, she says "Maybe there's somewhere a lesson to learn," but then she goes back to saying "I'm still hurting."
"Goodbye Until Tomorrow" is sung right after the couple's first date.
"How could she just suddenly, completely disappear into thin water?" - The Little Mermaid
My favorite is the Off-Broadway musical, I love you because. Almost all of the songs are appropriate for this situation and its fantastic material. I reccommend it to anybody looking for a great, contemporary, musical CD. Also, Lone Star Love has some great songs that seem to relate to you situation. Hmmm possibly Somewhere Thats Green-Little Shop...But maybe not... King of the World-Songs for a New World should cheer you up (that whole cd is great by the way (check out stars and the moon)) No One is Alone-Into the Woods (i guess you could make No More relate too)
Thats just a couple. If you need more, feel free to contact me. :)
"Still Hurting" - The Last 5 Years "What Did I Have That I Don't Have?" - On a Clear Day You Can See Forever "I Had Myself a True Love" - St Louis Woman "Maybe This Time" - Cabaret "Hopelessly Devoted To You" - Grease, the movie (Love Grease or hate it, it's sort of an undeniably great belt it out breakup song) "Tell Me On A Sunday" - Song and Dance "Someone Else's Story" - Chess "I Know Now" - 42nd Street (ish) "I Know the Truth" - Aida
I'm glad I'm not alone. When I was dumped by the *#!@)&^%$!@ I dated before I got married (<3) I listened to I'm Still Hurting (L5Y) and I Know the Truth (Aida) on a loop. BUT, then I created a playlist on iTunes called Step Off Bitch and filled it with songs that make me (personally) feel empowered and upbeat. Some Rocky Horror, Out Tonight (Rent), mostly rockin' stuff. So I hope that the songs listed by the kind souls here help ease your pain, and you can move onto your Step Off playlist soon.
