LATEST The show was filmed over 2 nights in its last weeks and will be released on DVD next year probably around the same time as the CD which the cast recorded the week after the show closed!

This happens to be one of the best things ive seen this year, the show totally surprised me.Well written, well acted etc. The critics also seemed to love this show, its just a shame it didn't take off
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
Dont knock it if you didnt see it! By doing so you are knocking British musical theatre which it certainly doesnt need. 'Bad Girls' was a well written, well performed, well produced and directed piece of great British Musical Theatre! There are some great numbers in there that you will hear now and again in the acts of cabaret singers for a few years to come.

Glad that it's not just dying a complete death, i really enjoyed it. Presumably they'll use the tv screening to promote the tour that's been mentioned. Reckon it could do quite well away from the harsh glare of the west end.
Alright, I will hold my hands up - I didn't see Bad Girls. I do agree it got very positive reviews and was well received in its first run int' North.
What I objected to was the fact that rather than being a "new" musical it was based on a terrible TV series - which I did see. I don't like that sort of thing in the same way that many people are sick of juke-box Musicals. TV is for TV and Theatre is for theatre. Making a musical of Bad Girls just wasn't the best use of TV or Theatre in my opinion, based on the concept rather than the execution, which from what you all say was very well produced.
We'll always support honest new writing in musical theatre, but this I don't think is honest or new. Just a desperate attempt to put second rate TV into a theatre and make it popular by staging it as a musical.
I'm sure we'd all rather see a NEW new musical with new book, new music and lyrics in a glittering all singing all dancing british production !!!!
I agree, yes, but lets not knock them for trying. It was a 'new' piece of work so deserved to be seen. I have never seen the TV series (i overdosed on womens prison TV series with 'Prisoner Cell Block H' back in the 80s!) but i know it was very successful and that success will help bring in audiences for the proposed national tour in May. When it opened in London i did say on a different thread that it probarbly wouldnt last until New Year for two reasons. Firstly it wouldnt appeal to tourists as they prefer the bigger shows and would have no idea what 'Bad Girls' was anyway (i know the TV series was sold abroad) and secondly and sadl, new UK writings never far very well in London. ('Spend Spend Spend' etc). I saw the show twice and both times the theatre was full and a large percentage seemed to be on day trips down to London from the North. Both audiences loved it and gave it a great reception. Its a shame it couldnt get to the end of its original run (Feb).

The TV series was fantastic and ran for 8 seasons, it was good campy fun though had an edge as well
The musical cleverly puts together the serious drama from series 1 with Helen and Wade, Jim Fenner sexually attacking a girl until she ends up killing her self etc as well as some truly hilarious camp moments including Fenner and Bodybag doing a tap routine complete with sequins and light up stairs lol

I had no idea they used episodes from the TV series. Mmm!!!- maybe not so 'new' then, in the book department at least! Oh what the hell i loved it anyway.

whilst it lifts the story or the lesbian love affair it rewrites it and gives it a new spin.
The Fenner storyline of him attacking a girl was inevitable as he is what kept the TV show going for so long
But they were no story lines added (setting fenner up with the Camera, setting him on fire etc lol) was all new, as well as the stuff between the screws
