Just because I am curious, I remember the buzz after the reading, that it was the most hilarious and amazing thing since sliced bread. What changes were made for the worst to have this show be received now like it is?
I think the initial problems casting got the show off to a bumpy start. While they have some great talent, it took a while to get everyone in place after many people passed on the show. Perhaps they sensed something that Mel didn't early on??
The only review of a show that matters is your own.
Enough with this ego s.h.i.t. for crap sake some of you people are truly sad.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Now, I think the casting may have had something to do with it. I'm also positive that if Chenoweth had ended up playing Elizabeth like she did in the reading, Brantley would not have had enough room to rave about her performance. I imagine Cloris Leachman was probably insanely fantastic too. So maybe it did have something to do with the casting. Maybe critics were just ready to dislike the show and there is no difference between the reading and the Broadway production.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
It isnt that bad at all. I saw it 2 weeks ago. Its brilliant fun! Just go and stop moaning

Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

That was mature and intelligent sounding and probably the best reason I've ever heard not to see a show. In what capacity, exactly, do you know Mr. Brooks that makes you able to comment?
I find it very funny how Young Frankenstein is the new Wicked. People are searching for reasons to hate when many of them probably haven't seen it. And if you do hate it, no one is making you go so stop complaining.
no BUT I AM BEING FORCED TO SEE 4 UGLY ADS GOING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS ALL FLASHING AND DEMANDING MY ATTENTION. THIS IS ASSAULT ON MY EYES.
as for brooks being a douchebag, have you not seen or heard the he's acted in regards to YF? He's too cool to release the numbers, his premium seats are 450. He's essentially said F*CK YOU to everyone. well F*CK YOU MEL BROOKS YOU BLOATED GREEDY ARROGANT PRICK.
So many on here hate the show who havent seen it. If they love theatre why not wait and see the show. Its amazing how vile people are on here towards it. its a fun show. If its not your kind of show just leave it alone

I'm not going to fight with you because I could never win. You have your mind so set on hating Mel Brooks, no one can ever change that. It's a real shame that you are so cynical and angry. Perhaps you could lighten up a bit and see a good comedy or two. But God forbid it's this show. I hear Spamalot is pretty good though.

ugh spamalot???? Monty Python is so unfunny. Why am i gonna pay $120 to see the musical version of a movie i can't stand???
And I see comedies (well i don't get to see shows that often being poor) I just saw I Love You You're Perfect Now Change on tuesday. And I'm going to see Miss Coco Peru at Joe's Pub sunday. Lightening up isn't my problem.
Mell Brooks being a tollbox is my problem. Updated On: 11/10/07 at 03:25 AM
Dont go then! No one is making you! Why are you going on and on and on and on about a show you havent seen, dont like and wont be going to! Whats the point!
