I am fine. I'm just sick of day after day of rain. It was nice when it first came in and cooled us down a bit, but now it's just muggy and wet. Make it stop!

K, I will try, but Namo has been doing his voodoo and it is causing rain here.

I'm in Chicago, too. Lost power for a few hours and had to walk through shin-high sludgy water to get home last night, but relatively OK.

I watched clips on the news this morning. I have no idea why some people were even attempting to use their umbrellas during this. Did they figure out if it was a tornado or straight line winds?

And there's more coming!!!

I was in my office during most of this....34th floor...rather scary at the time.

We are ok....losta large branches fell on our street and sidewalk. The wind threw a couple of sizable metal patio chairs about 5 feet in our backyard. Minor flooding in our basement...our neighbors also got flooded.

not to worry...

...about 6 weeks ago we had quite a lot of water seep in....ruined some furnture...lost my theatre programs and reviews (oh, well...what was I gonna...do pull out my yellowing, crumbling clippings and weep over my glory days?!)....

...since then we have decided to have the foundation completely sealed and to gut the basement adding all sorts of precautions.

I'm ok. I got home just a couple of minutes before the storms hit, but I sure heard them. I thought the wind and rain were going to shatter my windows. And it sounds like we might get some more today and during the night. The office is nearly deserted today, so I might go home early.

Dottie - The biggest problem I have encountered with those winds is that downtown, the force of the winds vary from block to block. You may open your umbrella and it will seem like normal storm winds, but as soon as you get to the corner, you are suddenly hammered with 50 mph winds from another direction (which is brutal during the winter storms) and you are suddenly left holding a metal stick. And with all the buildings around, you can't really judge the storm from the skies. It's completely nuts, deceptive and unpredictable. Just like Jen on Big Brother. I sort of miss her already.

WCA, was that the June 26th rain? That was indredible! Our street was filled completely!

Yes, it was the June 26th rain storm....and to add to the stress my partner's mother passed away that evening.

That is sad! Tough year for deaths in our family.

We have not had any damage with the storms this summer. So many of my friends - dozens were flooded on 6/26.

Thanks, my partner's mother was diagnosed with cancer almost three years ago, and was given 6 months to live at that time. Thanks to surgery and chemo she lived an active and relatively comfortable life (she was in Hawaii last fall!), and passed away at the age of 82.

We lost internet and can see the swamp ("Wetlands") that usually you have to walk into the woods to see but no major uproar in our lives!

Yeah they are saying AT LEAST 4 more inches before the weekend is over. You CAN NOT imagine what the mosquitos are like here.

Wow! Sounds bad. I used to live in the Chicago area but I just moved downstate for school. I hope everyone up there is ok.
