Because I choose to give credit where credit is due and treat every human being equally regardless of their job?

I guess that's the definition of mean and rude. Pardon me.

Marc, thank you so much for helping us resolve this situation. I've sent off an e-mail to that address (not my whole story, just that I was turned away in NYC and my name and pass # - I hope that's enough info) so hopefully I will get a reply. Free passes would be nice, so I can see Hairspray an extra time! :)

Despite the happy, I have to acknowledge that KuhnKrazy is right. New Line seems to be avoiding the real issue - that the passes said "first come, first serve" and that was not the case, nor did it indicate anywhere that this was a screening sponsored by Sebastian hair salons. Regardless, it's over. I'm glad the film has generated so much interest! Congratulations, Marc!

No, Foster ! Because your post was a sarcastic try of mocking a heartfelt salute, by one of the few BWW members who has never attacked you !!!
And don't insult my intelligence ! If you wanted to give credit, I believe you could do it without using my exact same words ! Unless you don't know how to, since all your replies are mean, cynical, sarcastic and annoying! In that case, ok !
I have no problem with humor, but your effort was a sarcastic and bitchy one, on a post for Marc, that came from my heart !
So, congrats ! You just became my second most despised member on this board ! Not that you care, of course, you'd have to have feelings for that !
And you are free to answer, but I am not gonna reply any more ! I am through with you !

Now we are attacking each other instead of focusing on the issue at hand. I surrender. It's not worth it.

Nope. They have not responded to my e-mail. I guess Marc S. is the only one who got a response to an e-mail.

You are the sad, pathetic one. It appears that you have nothing else to do but make nasty comments and judgements about other people's situations and taking the Lord's name in vain on top of it, AND IN CAPS, YET! I'll pray for you.

You better start praying for the whole lot of us then jimnySF cause I acutally agree with Sean on this one. I have to say that there are more important things they are dealing with ~ like they have a major movie coming out tomorrow.

General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

I agree with most of you that at this point there's no need to complain anymore... whats done is done... it was a bad unfortunate situation. trust me i was there!

But remember JRybka, you my friend, got IN! Most of these people did not... and if i remember correctly, when i was behind you in line, you're exact words were "if i dont get into this movie i'll die". u seemed just as anxious as the rest of us to get in. maybe more so.

imagine how you would have felt if you had been denied admission after waiting in line for so long... like so many people here did... sure you would have had the pleasure of luxuriating at The Cheesecake Factory... but be honest, i think you'd be singing a very different tune.

i'm not trying to cause any problems with anyone... it just seems like so many people on here just want to fight with each other... and i have no idea why... we're all fans of theater... we're all nice people right (most of the time?)... so lets just all get along! :) have fun... this is a great board.

i dont think jimnysf has been bitching. someone asked if anyone had received email replies yet... and jimmy answered their question... no replies yet.

What are you talking about? The email is for the publicity office for the film. It's not like they will be at every movie theater to see the film open.

Perhaps if he'd actually waited for them to have sufficient time to respond.

But consider, folks: there are probably a couple of hundred emails sitting in that poor schmuck's inbox. That poor schmuck is also trying to help everyone else in the PR department get ready for the film's opening tomorrow night. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why anyone would be this way about something like a free movie pass. The previous threads about the vairous "disasters" really came down to entitlement, not a real desire to help Marc and everyone at New Line celebrate the film. Instead, it was "I spent four hours in line so I deserve a freaking free ticket!"

Well, y'know, no, you dont. You are not guaranteed anything in life, period. Deal with it and move the heck on. New Line will respond in its own good time, so just appreciative of that and STFU.

Uh, no. It was "I spent four hours in line and these passes were not first come, first serve as promised".

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

oh sean. your choice of words are always so positive and reaffirming. sigh... anyhow...

i'll just focus on the good and try and ignore the negativity because since i've joined this board i've met some really great people. i've learned alot. had some great laughs. but sometimes things get so negative it dampens the mood... so i'll try and look past that...

on to the positive... i'm going back saturday to see it alone cuz my wife works saturdays. anyone from DC wanna be my date?? haha.

Clearly you have no understanding of how film publicity works. It's not as if everyone's function overlaps; everyone has specific job functions. While I doubt the person in charge of that email address ONLY has that job function, it's unlikely that the film's opening is causing the delay. The delay is most likely because they have to decide what to do to compensate the people who are emailing them. And then it would most likely be a mass emailing.

"but be honest, i think you'd be singing a very different tune."

--You are right I might have been pissed off but I also go into the whole thing as it is free. Therefore if it is free to begin with don't make the expectations so high. That is me. I am not saying it is not everyone. And honestly, I do feel VERY VERY bad that people where A> treated poorly and B> not able to see it on Monday... You may not believe me (I know you do Cubanpab) but it is true.

And FINALLY... Cubanpab.. if you weren't married (god you are adorable!) I would so be your date. But when I go on a date I have to admit, I kind-a hope to get a goodbye/night kiss and I doubt she would be too thrilled about that one! lol

JR hahahahaha... that was funny. thank you for the compliment. i know what u mean... it was just a bad situation all around... thankfully the movie comes out tomorrow so everyone can finally see how much fun it is!

i feel truly lucky that i was able to see it considering how impossible it was for us evites to get in. my wife and i had to claw our way in at the last minute. and i feel guilty that others who waited longer than me missed out. sad for them. but i'm excited for everyone who gets to see it tomorrow. ya'll are gonna love it. i was really surprised at just how much fun i had. i hadnt enjoyed a movie musical that much since CHICAGO way back in 2002.

i'll be at the movies on saturday... lonely and by myself... with a big ol' bowl of nachos to keep me company. :) now if the baltimore costume twins wanna be my date... i would have no problem with that!! re: a response from New Line re: the free screening 'sistuation'

Just because something was free doesn't mean that the folks at the screening had the right to a) treat people so poorly b) change the written rules at the last minute.

When someone feels they've been treated unfairly, they want an apology BUT they also want to see steps taken to ensure it doesn't happen again. I don't sense New Line even attempting to understand what angered people at the screenings (the poorly worded evites), let alone are they taking steps to prevent future misunderstandings.

Here's the type of email I wish New Line would send out to the disgruntled guests at this week's screener. Cut me some slack on some of the wording. This is on the fly. I'm not going to labor over a message board post but you get the gist of what I'm trying to say:

Dear ---,
We recognize and apologize that New Line's evites contained a printing error which deemed the invitation as a first come first serve. In fact, the evites should have read that evite guests would be admitted to the screening only AFTER all of our sponsors' guests had secured their seats. We apologize for our printing error. We also regret any inconvenience our mistake may have caused you. You can be assured that we are addressing this problem seriously and are taking steps with our advance screening and printing departments to ensure that this miscommunication will not happen again in the future. Thank you for your interest in New Line Cinema.

Judging by New Line's fluffy response to Marc's email though, the studio won't admit they messed up with the evites. Put a band-aid on it and just blame it on the film's popularity! Well my 7th grade math teacher used to tell me: "Until you review your work process and zero in on exactly where your mistake occurred, you'll keep repeating the error over and over." I hope New Line has a lot of free merchandise lined up for their next movie's screening because they're going to have keep bandaging their mistakes until they actually get to the root of what really angered people.

Why is most everyone complaining about the wording on the evites? Have you never gone to a preview screening before? There are always VIPs who go in 1st and then everyone else is allowed in if there are seats.
My problem with this preview, at least in San Francisco, was the way people were let in. i.e. letting more people in than seats without counting first. For me, that was the problem as you should never have to ask people to leave once you let them in. Especially if they are already in seats.
And for the record, I also was one of the lucky ones who got in.
