These prices are intended for the rich, corporate expense accounts, and so the producers can capitalize early before all the "stars" leave. Prices will most certainly float back to reality when:
a. we find out that the show really stinks and reviews are bad
b. after several years when the original cast is long gone and Ashley Parker Angel is playing "Igor"
c. the cavernous Hilton Theatre swallows this show whole like all the musicals before it!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Larry, nobody on here buys premium tickets for any show anyway, so your post (the 50th post on this topic) is pointless.
The tickets are $120.00. The same price as JERSEY BOYS, THE COLOR PURPLE, and LEGALLY BLONDE. It's nothing new.
Even if they were charging $1000.00 for premium seats, it wouldn't make a difference to anyone here, because nobody here buys premium tickets.

Seriously, when the price of discounted tickets obtained with special codes and through special websites and organizations goes up, or the price of lotto and rush tickets soars to $450, then we'll have a real argument.
Thanks for speaking on behalf of all message board participants Ms. Sutton and for calling my comments pointless.
I'm so sorry that I don't troll these boards night and day, as I am sure I would've realized there have been 50 posts already about this!
Don't like the comments? Skip it and move on to a really important post by the umpteenth 13 year old that wants to know how to sit next to Melchior at Spring Awakening!
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
You do know that Wanna Be isn't actually Sutton, right?
And Hunter doesn't have talent? Okay...

There is an argument to be made that the best seats are avaible to the rich and those who can afford them. It gives amo to the stereotype that that theatre is for the rich and not for the betterment of society which it should be.

Then just try using the SEARCH feature BEFORE you post.

It just gets boring when it seems like the only people here commenting are middle aged gay men and teenagers.
I'm a 26 year old gay man. Sorry to disappoint you, Larry. And by the way, if you don't like the demographic of people who post on this board, why do you keep posting? If you're looking for 80 year old straight women, you're in the wrong community. I think I hear jdate calling your name...

jesus tap-dancing christ you guys! this board is damn frustrating because people can't help but turn every single topic into something about themselves and each other! if you wanna bicker, PM each other and spare the rest of us! please!
I think Mel is counting his eggs before they hatch. The big names in his show aren't as big as Lane and Broderick and I don't think lightning will strike twice. I can see the show making good sales in the beginning with all the hype, but I can't see it lasting very long.
We'll see.
"But I can tell you that Raoul, who was so handsome in "The Phantom," is now a drunken wreck."
I'm afraid I have to agree with larry64. Not about the demographic on the boards, but about how not all of us sit on this messageboard all night. Sometimes we just want to say something or ask something so we'll post it. And good lord who CARES if it's been posted?! If it's been posted already, SKIP OVER IT. Don't bother clicking on it if it bothers you so much.
And the premium prices for YF make me absolutely sick. But in agreement with everyone who said it, not many of us buy premiums seats anyhow.
We were fated to be mated. We're Bialystock & Bloom!
i laugh about this because last semester i did a research paper on Broadway in the 1980s and there was a quote said in the 80s how the top broadway ticket would NEVER go above 60 bucks
