what is going on with Katie latley? Does anyone have any info? i thought she would have already been working on another show by now. Such a fairy tale beginning to a career, i hope the bad reviews haven't ended her future prospects.

They might have done just that.

...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...

I didn't think she was that bad. She had her good points in the show.

I thought her voice was beautiful in real life. The Live from LC broadcast was a terror.

"I thought her voice was beautiful in real life"

I agree. When i saw her in New York i thought she was excellent. Her acting was superb and she had a lovely voice, though clearly not as strong, clear, and controlled as Kelli's.

And even being a HUGE Kelli O'Hara fan, i came away really really liking Katie's performance. The only part i was too disappointed on was "Clara's Interlude"

However on the Live at LC broadcast, it just wasn't too good.

I do hope she gets another chance, she's vary talented and just needs some more time to grow and get better and better.

I think she could make a convincing "Little Edie" in the first Act of Grey Gardens.

She's got some great acting chopps.

I think she did that William Finn revue, Travels With My Discontent this summer

I think Katie is very much a developing performer, hopefully with a strong career ahead of her. She has a wonderful rapport with an audience (so much better in person than on any broadcast) and a pretty voice that could be very, very good someday. I wish her all the best

I really like Katie. For the most part, I thought her singing on the LC broadcast was great. I agree with what lostgirl said. I also think that she's still a developing performer, and that she'll get even better with more experience.

"I thought her voice was beautiful in real life. The Live from LC broadcast was a terror".

-Her singing on the broadcast was as bad as it was live. The entire cast sounded like they do in real life and most of them sounded beautifully, especially Sarah Uriarte Berry.

No, she is not waitressing, she actually just got back to the city and moved into an apartment. She did a concert in Mississippi last month, and as far as i know will be Nelly in South Pacific for a concert in West Virginia at the end of the month. That, and she has started the audition process again.

Anyway, thats a quick update for anyone interested!

And, for the record, I don't think any "bad reviews" she got on this message board are going to affect her career much.

I'm glad good things are coming to her. While I didn't enjoy her performance (er... video performance. Stupid Canada) in Piazza too much (overly-childlike), there's something there.

Hmm, will she audition for Nellie for Lincoln Center's South Pacifict, perhaps?

Kelli O'Hara has made it quite clear that she wants Nellie in Lincoln Center's South Pacific, and with the entire creative team from Piazza behind it, I don't see why she wouldn't get it.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Well it said that it was in a concert in WV next month so I don't see why she'd go for LC so soon after; especially with Kelli interested

Goodness was she ever dreadful in Piazza. I saw her perform the role live, and then again on the telecast, and both times, she was painfully bad. The girl couldn't handle that score if she was carrying it in the palm of her hands. She actually made a large portion of the audience laugh during the title number. That's something that I'm fairly certain was not planned.
