"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

5. HELLO DOLLY!
6. VICTOR / VICTORIA
7. EVITA

Have you ever seen these shows live? If so, where?
*** I have seen THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA and THE COLOR PURPLE on Broadway, and the others at regional theatres, national tours, or I’ve seen the movie.

What’s your favorite song from show #2?
*** “Passggiata.”

Who’s your favorite character from show #4?
*** The leading lady- Fanny Brice.

What’s your favorite scene from show #5?
*** Mrs. Molloy’s hat shop.

What’s your favorite lyric from show #8?
*** All of the lyrics from “Children Will Listen.” They’re brilliant.

From show #10, which character are you most like?
*** Um… I’m really not like any of them… I don’t know.

What’s the best movie musical?
*** HELLO DOLLY!

What's the best musical they turned into a movie?
The best musical turned into a movie would be West Side Story.
As for the best "movie musical" translation from stage, I'd say "The Sound of Music"
If I have to do a modern one, probably "Phantom of the Opera" which repaired a lot of the problems I have with the play even though Gerald Buttler was incredibly miscast.

Haha so many to count. Some that pop into mind: Chicago, RENT, Secret Garden, Civil War, Cats

If so, which one? Why?
See above. Why? The music is awful in all of them.

I can't say. Depends on the project. Chicago is better as a movie. Phantom is better as a movie. Cabaret is far better as a musical as is Bye Bye Birdie.

The Producers or RENT - I don't know Producers well enough to judge, but probably that over RENT.

Wicked or Chicago - Wicked (but only because Chicago is more horrid, not because Wicked is good)
