I haven't seen Spelling Bee yet, but recently found out that a friend of mine has been cast as one of the understudies, which has made seeing it more of a priority. I would like to surprise her by just going to see it, but there's the tricky issue of knowing when she'll be going on. Is there a good way of doing this besides walking by the theater everyday? Can I call the box office? Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Unless the person(s) she is understudying(sp?) has a planned vacation or absence, and telecharge/ticketmaster knows about it, there really isn't a way for you to know.

Yeah chances are your not going to know, unless there is a planned vacation.

As it turns out I have to call the telecharge customer service line two hours before the start of each show and ask them to call the Circle in the Square box office to see if there are any understudies going on at the next performance. Very annoying. But to answer your questions, I'm trying to see Sarah Stiles on Broadway. I want to see her playing Olive or Logainne though because I worked with Deb Craig years ago when she did Dance with Me. Has anyone seen Sarah yet? I know she's gone on a couple of times already.
