Go to www.globalvisionrecords.com to check out the new website and click on the JEKYLL & HYDE picture to hear the new sound clips from the RESURRECTION album. Jeremy Roberts and Frank Wildhorn have found an incredible new way of telling this story and I think the music sounds fantastic and comes "alive" (forgive the pun) in a completely new way than ever before!

Can someone fill me in on what is special about this? Is it updated, rockier arrangements? New lyrics?

Sorry but I don't really like it. A musical is a musical and pop-rock is pop-rock. Not a fan here.

What Kate Shindle told me was that hey sat down and listened to "Evanescence" and other newer r&b and rock songs and then added elements to update the songs and just create a whole new feeling that would be appealing in a different level.

I LOVE the clips.

I don't like it either, but then again, I'm not really a J & H fan.

Still, I don't mind a musical with a pop score, but they seem to be stretching the material where it doesn't want to/can't go.

Oh dear...this sounds rather strange. I don't think these sound half as good as the original. I know that didn't do very well so maybe this resurrection is good. But from these little clips, I prefer the classiness of the original.

I liked "This is the Moment" with the new orchestrations, but the rest...meh.

That's surprising to me how much you guys don't like the music, I for one think it's better than the original. IN HIS EYES sounds amazing.

I rather like it. I mean its like going back and doing a concept recording ala Jesus Christ Superstar and Chess. The arrangements in those albums (esp Chess!) are radically different to the theatrical ones. Now if you dont like it... dont buy it re: New JEKYLL & HYDE: RESURRECTION Sound Clips

Still Rob Evan is no Anthony Warlow though and I wish they had gotten Lauren Kennedy (as planned) to sing Emma.

The original 2 disc version with Anthony Warlow and Linda Eder will always be, in my opinion, the definitive version of the score - beautifully orchestrated, fantastic performers, and you can hear the theatricallity of the story in the music. Why mess with perfection, and what works?

I'm right with you JasonM! Whenever Frank reworks his pieces they get worse. The Broadway cast recording wasn't half as good as the original 2 disc version, and this one sounds even worse.

The original is a masterpiece!

I disagree. While I do love the original with Anthony Warlow, I think this one is second best. The arrangments sound amazing on their own. Listen to TRANSFORMATION!

"so...when/where is this being done?"

It's not.

Hmm...if that's the case, *why* is this being done?

We made a recording. In some ways, inspired by the "Concert" tour - but different enough to justify its own name. It is a listening experience. Remember the old days, when musicians and singers made records, and people listened to them? The recording didn't have to be associated with a TV show, or DVD or a staged production. It was "simply" music to listen to.

In our case, we tell a 71 minute story using music. The recording is not connected to any past or future staging of the show. Its sole purpose is for the listener to enjoy the songs and performances. What a novel idea! Back to the future, maybe?

Interesting. I really like some of them, and I really hated some of them. I'm thrilled to get a recording of Rob Evan singing the score. Even if it is a little hoaky at times.

I guess I don't get it. That's what I do with the 2-disc original black box edition. What warranted the new one? I mean while it isn't connected to any past or future productions, it is. It is still J/H right. J/H is a show, so it isn't really any different than any other cast recording. not very inovative. IMO.

My personal tastes for Wildhorn's work tend to waver (I'm pro-Pimpernel, anti-Civil War, up and down on J&H, and my thoughts on Dracula are in the realm of ..."umm, ok?"), but that aside, I can't help but admire the tenancity of a man who clearly knows how to access and retain his fan base. Although I'll take lush gothic orchestration over rock any day, Wildhorn's writing has always been very modern pop-based, and so I think the Jekyll and Hyde score lends itself to that. Look at shows like Jesus Christ Superstar, which began as a rock concept album.

I like it. It sounds really good. Do you think these arragements could work on stage in an actual production - not a concert version. Also, did they cut facade & murder/murder? Those were two of my fav. songs.
