I teach voice lessons and I have started getting a lot of younger students. Any suggestions for good broadway songs for 14 and under? I am feeling unoriginal these days. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Oh im sure there are plenty out there. This sound unoriginal but most from the Sound of Music are good and other Roger's and Hammerstein's. When I was about 8 I loved Annie, The King and I, and Cinderella especially.

Light in the Piazza with Megan and Emi "Girl you got money runnin' in yo bloodline."-Carl the Bartender
In My Own Little Corner- Cinderella The Girl I Mean to Be- The Secret Garden Tomorrow, Maybe- Annie Good Ship Lollipop (ok, not Broadway but a cute song)
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
I am under 14 and take voice, and I sing Broadway songs.
Thus the song list (songs I've done that are good for younger students.. I've done some more mature stuff but I'll leave that out): -Castle on a Cloud : Les Miserables -One : A Chorus Line -Popular : Wicked -I'm Not That Girl : Wicked -For Good : Wicked -Reflections : Mulan (not Broadway) -Learn Your Lessons Well : Godspell -Bless the Lord My Soul : Godspell -Tonight : West Side Story -I Feel Pretty : West Side Story -Think Of Me : The Phantom of the Opera -Memory : Cats -Diamonds Are a Girls Bestfriend : Gentlemen Prefer Blondes -I Enjoy Being a Girl : Flower Drum Song -Once Upon A Dream : Jekyll & Hyde -Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again : The Phantom of the Opera -Every Story is a Love Story : Aida -My Strongest Suit : Aida -Tomorrow : Annie -Hard Knock Life : Annie -My Favorite Things : Sound of Music
The Secret Garden would be a great for children's voices. Perhaps also Once Upon a Mattress and You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown if you're getting that young.
"I haven't got a pail."
"Find your grail, your GRAIL!"
"But it's not missing. It's right on the counter where it's supposed to- defying gravity, my giant cup's gone!"
"Five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes. How do you measure... measure a year?"
"How many times do I have to tell you, it's five hundred twenty-five thousand, five hundred and eighty-five point thirty-two minutes. You will never graduate if you keep basing your math on showtunes."
"You ruin Broadway for me."
"As well I should."
Any Dream Will Do - JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING... Food Glorious Food - OLIVER Whistle Down The Wind - WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND When Children Rule The World - WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND If Only - WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND
King and I songs are really fun for kids to sing. My little sister was in a production of it last year and she was happy to just "sing the fun songs", she didn't mind all the bowing she had to do. Anything from Sound of Music is also good.
