I'm almost tempted to post something that would prove you wrong about Steph and get this thread deleted. She's clearly not screaming. She couldn't do that 8x/Week if she was screaming.
That's all... carry on with your judgments if you must. That was me posting mine.
Steph really does the role different then Eden....they are both great but for there own reasons.
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
funny how the argument of stephanie not screaming because she does it 8 times a week (which isn't the case, she's out quite a bit) stands up...yet people INSIST idina menzel and eden espinosa scream, despite their runs in "wicked" and "brooklyn" TRULY doing 8 shows a week...hitting the notes, which i've heard steph likes to leave out the higher ones...i'm just posting my opinion on why i don't care for ms. blocks take on the character...and when she screams "no wizard that their is OR WAAAAAS" or "FIEYRO WHEREEREREE AAAARRRRE YYYYOOOOOOOUUUU" at the start of "No Good Deed," its' like nails on a chalk board for me...not for everyone, but FOR ME...hehe
I've never said Idina or Eden scream. I actually think both women are extremely talented in their own right. I've seen both of them play Elphaba very well.
I'm not picking an argument with you, I'm really not. You have a right to like and not like who you want to. But please think twice before you make assumptions on why people are out and/or don't hit notes. Being out because you are sick is not the same thing as being out because you've strained your voice. And I've heard her hit that high note. Sorry you missed it, it was fabulous! Updated On: 1/13/06 at 02:23 AM
Well, to each their own. Though it's great each actress adds their own little perks to the role. Makes seeing each one a different and ultimately worthwhile experience, no?
