Ok, so you're a mezzo-soprano...do you sing gospel? Maybe "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going", but only if you're AMAZING at it.

"The Oldest Proffession" from The Life.

when in doubt...keep it simple.

go in and sing something like AMAZING GRACE and riff what you feel comfortable riffing. It's better if you go in with something that's expandable to your own interperetation as opposed to vice versa.

If you go in with something like 'and i'm telling you' (no offense My Fair Lady)- you're really asking to be compared to the beyond fierce women (and men) who have sung it famously before you.

Sing something simple and add the little shop 'flavah' to the degree that you feel comfortable with. That way, you can feel free to show your 'own' voice, as opposed to trying to live up to someone elses.

Just my two cents.

What about "I Won't Say I'm In Love" from Hercules? I know its not broadway, but its Alan Menken! Thats what I'm doing for my audition for Little Shop at my school this spring.

What about singing a song from the 60's? Isn't that when Little Shop of Horrors takes place? You could do "You Don't Own Me" "Son of a Preacher Man".
