I heard a rumor today that The Producers is coming to the Paris Hotel (where We Will Rock You is closing in a couple weeks) and Wicked is going to The Wynn (yes apparently he's building a theatre) It is rumored that these are "done deals" for next year that were "official" today. Anyone have any info?

Avenue Q's already at The Wynn's theatre so unless it's closing, I doubt Wicked's moving in any time soon.

(And, judging from the posts on here, it seems like Broadway in Vegas isn't as much of a hot ticket as people had expected so I can't see more shows - especially expensive shows like Wicked - clamouring to open there.)

Well if they are doing Spamalot...Wicked doesn't supprise me but seems more like a rumor.

Would Wicked sell that successfully? I thought its main sales were mother/daughter outings. Not too many teenage girls in Vegas. Producers would be a good pick for vegas though. So would Spamalot. Can't wait to see the new phantom staging once it opens at the Venetian. Also if Jersey Boys is a success, thatd do well in Vegas.

I know people who are a part of Avenue Q and they said that it's doing really well and that most of the articles are wrong.

But, that's just what they told me.

Avenue Q in Vegas is not closing anytime soon. It is actually selling pretty well, and word of mouth on the show is starting to spread...... plus, they are bringing in a new press team to re-vamp the show's advertising.

Wicked is NOT coming to the Wynn...... or any other permanent venue in Vegas...... they are booking the tour into a Vegas venue for a 5-week run. Thats all. Possibly at the MGM Grand, but not yet set in stone. The Wynn Casino is currently building a 3rd theatre and will be opening Spamalot there. They will have 3 shows --- La Reve, Avenue Q & Spamalot.

And the same reliable source I heard all that from has confirmed that the Producers will play at Paris where We Will Rock You is closing......but don't expect the full show.

I read somewhere they are building another theatre for Spamalot at the Wynn. What a beautiful hotel.

The rumor about Wicked was that Wynn would build yet another theatre in addition to the ones he has for Wicked in a year or so. Hey like I said, just a rumor.

I think it should just tour and come here for a few weeks.

Producers would be cool. It's rumored BKLYN and Movin Out are coming too.

I think EVERYTHING should come hahaha. I don't think Wicked would be able to go to the MGM because there really isn't a theatre for that there. I think it would be cool at the Aladdin. Would be nice at Cashman because it's more intimate, but it is ghetto, and they won't get tourists going over there.

If only Phantom was at the Paris. Would be appropriate! Is there already a theatre in MGM that Wicked could open in? Ironically, are there no Broadway shows opening at New York, New York??

Where did Les Mis play last year when it was in Vegas? Was it on the Strip or somewhere outside of that area?

Hmmm....not sure but I thought Les Mis was at Cashman. BKLYN is rumored to be going to the NY, NY hotel ironically.

There's not a lot of teenage girls in Vegas, Theatreboy33? Is that an assumption? Last time I checked, we don't just have casinos. We are a civilization. Little thing I like to call high schools.

Agreeing with Mynameinlights. I teach high school theatre and there is an abundance of teenage girls....normal everyday teenage girls here in Vegas. We don't all live in hotels and grow up with slot machine rattlers.

Lights - were you in OOTI at LVA? I just saw it last night.

No there is not a theatre for a show at the MGM unless the Hollywood is used, which i believe is where David Copperfield usually is, and it's not a good theatre for broadway shows, and this past Broadway season, all of the tours (including Les Miz) came to Cashman, but they all did awful. Every year int he past they have been at the Aladdin PAC, and most people did not want to go see shows at Cashman. It's a bad location, and it's not as much of a cool theatre experience seeing a show there, but it is nice that the theatre is smaller, but it is not very nice.

*edit-Broadway LV told me the tours moved to cashman because the new owners (Planet Hollywood) didn't want the shows there.

Sort of, Hairspraydoll. I was vocal support, which means I was singing into a mic from backstage. What did you think of the show?

When the Alladin went into financial trouble - all the remaining tours coming here either canceled or went to Cashman. It's a nice intimate theatre but out of the way. The Alladin theatre is too big in my opinion.

I liked it. I thought the choreography was awesome. You guys had a huge cast.

It's one of my favorite shows. I just directed it at my HS.

Jees, didn't mean to offend. Theres lots of teenage girls in pittsburg too, or cleveland. Naturally, I was speaking about the tourism crowds, which they are attempting to attract. And in that case, no, i still dont think there are many teenage girls IN THAT CROWD.

I'm sure Lights will agree as she is a teen and I grew up here...we always get asked things like "do you have high schools, do you live in a casino" So I think that's why we both jumped at you. Not trying to be mean at all though! re: More Las Vegas Shows

Actually Vegas is now a huge family destination. So teenagers are alot more common here which is why I think they are bringing more BWay shows here.

What's "OOTI" ?

Do you think only comedies would survive in Las Vegas? Seems to be where they're leaning. Either shows that are spectacles - Phantom - or "edgy" comedies. Do you think Piazza would survive? I think it could do well. I dunno, in my mind I invision a lot of older ppl in Vegas going to that show. Jersey Boys would do great in Branson or Pig Ford Tennesee lol.

Half of the people that go to shows out here are comped gamblers or on corporate accounts. The other half are families. I have seen Q twice and haven't paid either time. I really don't think Piazza would make it. Most shows out here are more fast paced, upbeat type shows. Phantom being an exception due to its familiarity.

OOTI is Once on This Island.
