er, ah....since Evita was first performed in America in 1979 in LA (Dorothy Chandler Pavilion), I highly doubt the 2005 tour is the FIRST national tour.......

The first national company of EVITA opened in Las Angeles Jan 13, 1980 with Loni Ackerman (Eva Peron), Jon Cyphr (Juan Peron) and Scott Homles (Che.)

A second company opened in Chicago September 30, 1980 with Valerie Perrie, Robb Alton and John Herrara

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

yes Bway, I saw ;o)

I saw Evita in Detroit sometime between 1991 and 1994, and then again in Munich, Germany in 1997.

The Detroit production was HORRIBLE........God I was so pissed off. The Munich production happened to be playing at a theater right behind my hotel, so I got tix.....it was very good, put the actress playing Eva Peron screamed some of the songs rather than sang them.

I would have died to have seen Patti in it, as my partner did in the original.

sorry........detroit back then wasn't very good. I also saw Camelot with Robert Goulet as Arthur, and hated that too......and also Brigadoon, and that also sucked. So I stopped doing theater in detroit.......as the casts they got weren't that good

"A second company opened in Chicago September 30, 1980 with Valerie Perrie, Robb Alton and John Herrara"

I saw Valerie Perri performing in a concert of Webber songs at a local college last year. She's a great performer. She did a beautiful rendition of "Memory"

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
