Sunday in the Park with George, without a doubt.

Wicked is still very close to my heart because it what caused me to start listening to other musicals. I just wondered what else was out there. I still love it.

I also love: West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, Phantom of the Opera, Guys and Dolls, Chicago, A Chorus Line, Singin' in the Rain (I've only seen the movie, but I love it!), Rent, Spring Awakening, and many others

I think discovering your favourite musical must be a lot like falling in love. Back in the day, if someone had asked me to narrow it down, I'd've wrapped my head in my arms and wailed "I CAN'T CHOOSE OOOOOOOOONE!" then reeled off a big list. Then I moved onto saying "well, I love loads, but the one I'm really into right now is...". But THEN I discovered this one musical, and fell in love, and it's my absolute favourite. I don't have to sit and think about it, I don't change my mind, I have one favourite musical and I feel so secure in my answer. Once I found my one, I knew I genuinely had a favourite musical and never really had before. XD

'Floyd Collins'. And may everyone who has yet to find their One find something that speaks to them as deeply as 'Floyd Collins' speaks to me. :)

I will do this in order

In The Heights- It has great music and a simple story. The entire production is just incredible. Dancing, lighting, sets, everything.

Rent- Rent was my first Broadway show (that I remember) and it will always be near the top for me. It will always be very close to me because it got me into Broadway. I love it no matter what.

Jersey Boys- I love it, everything about it. Sunday In The Park With George- it was wonderful, so now it's tied

Gypsy

This is not in order now:
A Chorus Line
Drowsy Chaperone
Spelling Bee
Legally Blonde
Lion King
Spring Awakening
A LIttle Night Music
and Many more, I have loved everything I've seen except Oklahoma! and Little Mermaid

For me, nothing beats Les Miserables. So many fantastic songs, so many memorable characters, such a profound story. Elegantly adapted from its source material. It's glorious.

Shout-outs to Show Boat, West Side Story, Gypsy, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, Company, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Ragtime, Spring Awakening.

three-way tie: Bare, Spring Awakening, Rent

"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim

I agree completely with you Weez!

People always ask me, "What's you favorite musical?" and I am always like: There are too many!!!! I can't choose just one.
And then I also used your second approach as well. "I like a lot, but my favorite at the moment is this."

But now, I have "fallen in love"!
