clear channel has announced to revive funny girl by doing a nation wide search for a new talent. the director of the show..no ..yes ms. streisand herself..can you believe this..she has said she has wanted to direct a broadway show for years..who better....
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."
"No dear, it's Pee-puuuuullllll. Not Peeeeeeee-pull. Oh forget it, you're fired. I'll just play the role myself"
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
Actually Streisand has indicated in interviews that she would like to direct a Broadway show. I think this thread is bull, but she has stated that - and not just in print - in a televised interview.

ya know..people on this website need to keep their insults to themself..calling someone stupid..not nice..and by the way it was an april fools..so you can stick that in your pipe..and for god sak take something for that nasty attiude
baddadnpa, could you kindly tell us where and when Streisand spoke of wanting to direct a Broadway play. Some of us are "Streisand fanatics." I have NEVER read or heard or certainly NEVER seen a television interview where she said she wanted to DIRECT a Broadway play.
She has CLEARLY stated that if she ever "Returned to Broadway" (and you can see her state this on the video of the American Film Institute's Tribute to her) it would be for a brief stint ACTING in one of the "classics." She went on to say if she ever returned to Broadway it would be for a brief run, most likely starring as CLEOPATRA in either the version written by George Bernard Shaw or that by Shakespeare.

i would tell you but you have been to nasty so i am not...and yes she did say it and yes i heard her say it..so you..can go searching until and find it your smarty mouthed self.
Wish, sorry, I don't have the exact time and date of her quote, but it was made. Whether she meant it or not is another story, but she did state it and I did watch it myself - not hearsay. Do I think she is going to fulfill that promise/desire, no - but she did say it.

wishihadatony is right, i think. she most often speaks of her self-proclaimed "laziness" and, it is my understanding, would never do something so strenuous as directing a play, much less a full-fledged broadway musical. i think that she is semi-retired, in the sense that she doesn't like working long hours any more. this is understandable considering that on april 24th she'll be 63! and she's been working since she was a wee lass of 21 or so! (if you count the cabaret acts at the bon soir and so forth). anyway, the point is, i would find it *highly* unlikely that she would direct a play/musical at this stage in her career, although i find it slightly believable that she would flirt with the idea of acting in a very limited run of a play. maybe her salute at steve's birthday bash has rekindled her love for the stage (btw, original poster- it's a funny joke! i mean we know it's not possible but it's still amusing!)
As much as WISH thinks he is the expert on all things, he is mistaken. She did say it. Again, I can't tell you when or where, but it was said. I do not think it will ever happen, but the statement was made.

if you were refering to *me*, i am not a he. also, i don't presume to be an expert on all things. not at all. but i AM an expert on babs and i have been since i was eleven. so are you really going to stand up to eight years of meticulous research, and tell me you remember this quote she said one time but you don't remember where or when? and so it seems that she has been quoted before, and misquoted before, but who knows where or when?
Alright KIDS....all of you go to your room and think about how nasty you have been to each other and dont come out until you can act civil!

I think the posters who think they heard Streisand say that are lovely, well intentioned people. Perhaps she did say that "she wanted to direct a Broadway play" at some time many decades ago....However, as far as I can tell, the only people who ever heard her say this are the posters here who mentioned it. I have certainly seen every "television interview" Streisand has done in the last 40 years and read most interview pieces she granted, not all, but most. I have read every major book written about her. It is certainly possibly Barbra at some point said something I missed. I apologize for sounding "too much in the know," and genuinely am sorry for any offense I may have caused. That was not my intention and I am truly sorry. And by the way........I HOPE I am WRONG. I would be delighted if Streisand directed for Broadway.

She actually said this? Shaw's Cleopatra is a teenager!
Kindness, she really did.........towards the end of her very long acceptance speech when the American Film Institute paid tribute to her. I guess she has lots and lots of oil of olay. :)
