I'm going to New York City next week. On Friday night, we're seeing "Wicked" and on Saturday afternoon we're seeing "Little Shop of Horrors." I can't decide what I want to see on Saturday night. My mom and I are going to rush or do SRO, but I don't know for what show. Some suggestions?

Thoroughly Modern Millie, it'd be a shame to miss Sutton Foster's Tony Award-winning performance in that show.

I would say Hairspray. That seems to be a favorite, and is one of the only recent shows that was a complete hit commercially and with the critics. It's a GREAT time. Hairspray, Wicked, and Little Shop all in one weekend is a dream.

What about Urinetown? I have not seen it in a while so I cannot vouch for the cast, but I loved that show. So funny.

Well, I already saw "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and I don't really want to stand in the back of the mezzanine. Otherwise, I'd love to see it again.

I saw "Hairspray," too, but I loved it, so there's a chance we might do SRO for that (we did it last year, it was so much fun).

If you want to see a true, classic Broadway musical - go see WONDERFUL TOWN! they don't make 'em like that anymore! Plus, they use a FULL 24 piece orchestra - 10 of them strings! Worth every penny!

Only musicals are an option?

WONDERFUL TOWN

AVENUE Q

HENRY IV at Lincoln Center

Those are the must see shows, all others are merely fillers.

THE BOY FROM OZ and TABOO have both been up on TKTS almost every night. You'll have a GREAT time at THE BOY FROM OZ, and you'll get to see the upcoming TONY winner for Best Actor in a Musical for next years 2004 TONY AWARDS!!! Have Fun!!! re: re: re: Need help deciding on a show!

Why not Urinetown. The cast right now is great and you don't want to miss it before it closes.

I'd prefer them to be musicals. I have seen so far:

Beauty and the Beast
Phantom of the Opera
RENT
Aida
Thoroughly Modern Millie
Hairpsray
Gypsy
42nd Street
Movin' Out
Chicago
The Lion King
Nine
The Producers
Cabaret
Mamma Mia

And I'm seeing
Little Shop of Horrors
Wicked

Have Avenue Q been on TKTS? Or is it easy to get rush for that, do many people show up for the lottery?

If you want to see a musical I would recommend Avenue Q. For plays I would recommend The Violet Hour or Henry IV.

One quibble Quibbler.

For someone who has seen as many current and recent musicals as you why do you "need help deciding on a show"? You're not a novice by any means and you know you're only interested in musicals.

Methinks yours was a rhetorical question.

Good question, Mr Bulldog. Maybe he was looking for a thread title & this was the best he could think of or maybe he was generally looking for help. Who knows . No big thing

Well, okay, here's the deal...

I can't decide whether I want to wait in TKTS and pick a show by the luck of the draw (I'm really hoping for "Wonderful Town" or perhaps something elese) or if I just want to get SRO for "Hairspray."

Next weekend should be very busy, with the tree lit and all, so don't expect much at tkts, especially Sat night.
Never Gonna Dance, which opens this week, is well worth a try. I think they may still be on discounts.
