Probably the worst show I've ever seen. A collection of songs that build to nothing and never become a cohesive or dramatic score, a generic bastardization of a classic story with predictable and lifeless characters.

I felt bad for the actors, trying to act with such poor and soulless material.

I love the music but having never seen it,I don't know how it would work as a show. Definately prefer Anthony Warlow to Bob Cuccioli though.

I really liked the music and like listening to the CD, but unfortunately the production was not all that great. In fact some parts were even kind of silly.

Loved the music, saw the dvd, loved the ladies in it... think it has multiple holes, that would be masked if done as a big budget hollywood film...I think it would blow the chicago movie out of the water....

I actually think that Frank could be the savior of the movie musical...everything he and his book/lyricists have contrived have seemed to me to be movies on stage.

I saw it three times with Sebastian Bach and the David Hasselhoff video version as well as a regional production. I love the show, although I felt the broadway ensemble was a little difficult to understand. I think its unfortunate that Hasselhoff funded the making of the video and did such a poor job and he wore too much make up too. Its too bad he didnt realize he was doing such a poor job with it, I wouldve wanted to have a video with pretty much anyone else in it.

Having the Cuccioli version would be great in a perfect world. Since the world is not perfect, I would rather have the Hassellhoff version than no show at all. It is better than nothing. TITH showed his vocal limitations but thought his "Confrontation" was very good. He played Hyde as something out of a looney tunes cartoon (facial twitches & all ) . One movement looked like it was straight out of "Saturday Night Fever". Cuccioli's version was evil.

I've never seen the show itself, just the Hasselhoff version on television, but I like a lot of the music.I sing in a community chorus, and last year we did a medley of songs from J&J. I've read on this site that some people find "Murder, Murder" annoying, but it is a h$#% of a lot of fun to sing.

Don't get me started...I've supported J&H before it opened pre-Bd'w in Houston. It took over 10 years to get there. And it was a far cry from the Warlowe concept album that everyone thought would be transformed into a great gothic-thriller musical. It fell short in many areas.

However, in defense of the show , despite itself, it brought some great talent in the form of Linda Eder, Bob Cucciolo, Robert Evan, Christiane Noll to the fore. All continue to do well or at least hold their own to this day. Seen all the Jekylls'/ Lucys'/Emmas'. Some really great people to meet and know and in some cases, work with.

What can I say? It had a cult following that ran out after the funds went away. It coulda, shoulda been a contender. 4 years is longer than most shows last, thanks to the jekkies, bless them all.

I saw the show many times during it's Pre-Broadway, Broadway, and touring runs. While I am a fan of Wildhorn's music, the show- namely the script- needed a lot of work, to fill plot gaps and add mucho character development. Suffice it to say, I went to the show to be entertained, and the multiple casts that I saw did not disappoint (well, only a few here and there did.) Out of all the productions I saw, I thought the Broadway production was the most "workable..." And just for kicks, here were some of my favorites in the roles...
J/H- Joe Mahowald, Robert Evan
Lucy- Coleen Sexton (but only when she was an u/s), Emily Skinner (she had an infamous performance during the previews...), and no one beat Linda's vocals
Emma- Anastasia Barzee, Kelli O'Hara, Rebecca Spencer

I love the show. Saw it three times with Rob Evan. He was fantastic. Even saw a road show version. Hated the DH video version. Thought the women were great. Loved it from the concept. This Is The Moment is a favorite song.

Opps! Forgot to mention Ray McCleod ,currently Wreck in Wonderful Town, was on the original concept album and played Simom Stride in the Bd'w production. Heck of a guy...who looked mighty fine in those black leather pants. Crazy Ray!

Kev~ love Becky Spencer! And Joe Mahowald has a great voice too.

triva....Both Brad Oscar and JT Eagan were ensamble members of J&H and just look at them now! Honestly, ask any jekkie why they supported this puppy. It was the wonderful people assoc. with this show!

Boy was my wife pissed when the dropped "Bring on the Men" from the Broadway show. Good & Evil (song that replaced it) was definitely inferior. Linda Eder said, at the stage door, it was a mistake taking it out.

PB...totally, when I think of what a great Ensemble hid in J&H. Everyone from JTE and Brad Oscar to Emily Skinner and Jodi Stevens to Kelli O'Hara and Leah Hocking to Ray McLeod and Rob Jensen...all wonderful, and many of them made terrific principals. Oh yes, forgot to add Jodi Stevens as a favorite Lucy re: re: re: re: re: re: re: Jekyll and Hyde

I enjoyed J&h because of Linda Eder. I like the music however the show was a little dry for me. The original cast was great!

I saw the national tour with Chuck Wagner and the regional premiere in Northern CA.

Both times, this show made me want to spork my eyes out and then eat the remaining tendrils.

That said, it was still enjoyable, if for all the wrong reasons. (Which is why I went again. :) )

Great score. I enjoyed the Robert Cucciolo version one million times more than the TV version. I guess I should just say no David Hasselhoff (sp?). The other performers, especially Coleen Sexton were great!

The Warlow/Eder/Carmello recording is THE best--a representation of how the show was in Houston where it was much better than what was on Broadway of tour. Listening to that CD makes you think that it must be an amazing show.

However, the show has never been complete---I believe the musical is unfinished and that a definitive version is sitting there somewhere in all of the mess. They need to go back to that version.

This is an awesome show! I saw it both pre-broadway tour and about 13 times on broadway. I think the Original Cast was too good for words. Linda, damn..what a belter... Robert..was the hardest working man in NYC during that time.....
However..it was a huge MISTAKE to bring David Hasselhoff to the canvas. What a pathetic replacement for any of the Jekylls before him. I personally think that he was the cause of the closure. I saw the last performance on broadway and the emotions were so strong that night and yet it still was a flawed performance because of Hasselhoff. I too own the dvd, but hate that it has hasselhoff instead of robert C.
anyway. my thoughts on the show.

Kev- I knew Emily Skinner was in the ensemble but I never knew she played Lucy. Please tell me about her "infamous" performance of Lucy during previews....I'm so curious! I heard some weird rumor somewhere that emily sang some part of the song while linda eder lipsynced it??? I thought it sounded weird.....just curious if it has to do with the infamous performance. Also, why do you like Coleen Sexton only as an understudy? I thought she was great in the video.....
