It's my new favorite musical! I want to see it SO BADLY! I just got the soundtrack because someone on the site told me I needed to, and because I'm in a cabaret containing two of the songs (the theme and FOR NOW)... And it's one of the only shows that I love each and every song in!!! Sorry, there are probably millions of threads on this, but it's totally true. It's amazing.
OMG is it the best show ever to hit the great white way. I loved it when I saw it. I fell in love with it when it was on Off-Broadway and had to see it when I was just in NYC. I am so glad that I got to see John Tartaglia in it though. I started to Avenue Q craze over here on the west coast in Modesto. All my friends love it now.
yay! i just saw it this past saturday, after listening to the cd day and night, and now i'm even more obsessed! I'm seeing it again the 23rd!!
"Hey Joey McIntyre, is there a balcony in Madison Square Garden? Joey knows his venues a little better than me. That's okay...I have a bigger part on broadway...:)" -Idina Menzel
The music makes much more sense once you've seen the show. That was the case with a few friends I took to see the show. I'd loaned them my CD to listen to and after seeing the show, they were really roaring with laughter when they listened to it again.
Go and enjoy! Great cast and lots of fun!

I think they meant it was their new favorite soundtrack. Back in the day, I was convinced that Jekyll and Hyde was my new favorite show based upon the concept recording....until I saw it. Umbrella dance. That's all I have to say. Avenue Q I saw before I knew anything about it. And it is my favorite show currently on broadway. Brilliant stuff. I listen to the album almost every day.
It's ironic--I'm listening to the CD as i read this post :) right now it's "Shaudendfrauda" (sp?) that's playing. I wish I could go see it; it's become my favorite too, I'm adicted to the CD! It's times like these that I absolutely hate not living in NYC, now I'll never get to see John T. in it
Avenue Q has over 200 complete plays for each song in my iTunes (that doesnt include when i stop and rewind right before the end) and probably a trillian plays on my iPod. Although, i am listening to it a little less now that johnny is leaving. i cant stand the heartbreak...

My dad goes to NYC every week, and he promised me that he'll take me to see a B'way show soon! I think this is my pick!
And what someone said about "how could it be your favorite if you haven't seen it?" Well, I've seen pictures, I've talked to people about it, read the plot-line, imagined it, and I'm doing a few scenes (not at all like how they do it in the actual show) in an upcoming cabaret.
I'm going to listen to it right now!
But someone asked about the plot line... You can find the basic idea here... PLOT LINE
Now, I have to play devil's advocate AGAIN! When anyone says "OH MY GOD, "Wicked" is the BEST THING EVER," or "I wore out TWO CD's ALREADY" the posters would be crucified. Yet, when it's "Avenue Q" it's totally okay, no one is blasted, no one is insulted...why is that?
(First off - Waving at ImSoooHypr - Hey, you! I've missed you on the Q boards!)
About having "favorite shows" you haven't seen - For some of us who live far, far away from NY, often our first exposure to a new show is the cast album, and that may be our only exposure for years. I've been hooked on Q since mid-May, when I bought the cast album after hearing a couple of the songs. With the prospect of any touring or regional productions being "who knows when, if ever," I may never get to see the show, but that hasn't stopped me from loving everything I've heard or seen of it so far. Oh, and I'm a bit shy about saying this, but - I completely understand why the Tartlets love Johnny, but am I the only one who has a big crush on Rick Lyon? ::blush::
OMG you are going to love it sooo much! I too became addicted to the soundtrack and then finally saw it this past summer and since have seen it again. It is sooo addictive. I am trying to get tickets for April. You are going to love it so much!
"You alone can make my song take flight, it's over now, the Music of the Night!!!!!"
I saw Avenue Q this winter breake and loved it! It's an awsome soundtrack and the creativity is really good!
you say i'm weird! look at everyone you're sitting with! and hey, those guys over there just threw napkins up in the air like they were on something! it's contajous! you can't help it!
AnothaPartofMe, you will most likely get to meet the cast. They are all soooo nice. Stephanie and John spend a lot of time signing and posing for pictures. Both of them are so sweet and funny. I was just there last week to watch the show (after I'd spent months obsessing over it!) and meeting John afterwards was such a cool experience. The only person who really doesn't sign that much is Natalie Velcon??? (the person who plays Gary Coleman), but other than that, they all spend a lot of time meeting fans.
