There are shows we all hold near to us... What was the first thing that caused you to be interested? I can remember I fell for "Side Show" after hearing Alice and Emily at Broadway on Broadway. Prior to that, I'd never heard anything from it. With Sunset Boulevard (yes, it's a favorite), a relative (twice removed...) was in the cast so I got to meet people and go backstage, etc. So, that's what got me into that particular show. Has their been a song you heard, and turned you onto a show, or a clip of a show you saw on TV perhaps that really caught your eye?? What was it?! Updated On: 10/9/03 at 10:25 PM
I got hooked on "Annie Get Your Gun" and "Mamma Mia" because of the amazing leading ladies, Bernadette Peters and Louise Pitre (along with fabulous supporting casts).
"It's the little things; the details, that distinguish the Barbra Streisands from the Rosalyn Kinds."~Gilmore Girls~
A political event in my country ( the birth of people power, as Time Magazine described it) was evoked by the scenes in the epic musical LES MISERABLES!
And the voice of Michael Ball ( one of the best in musical theatre) in ASPECTS OF LOVE made me fall in love with this lyrical and poignant musical! Although the fascination started in London at the West End, before I reprised the experience on Broadway.
i got hooked on many shows but, RENT probably remains dear to me even if I dislike it now because i had a whole world open up to me once i got into it back in 96...many new friendships, experiences and memories i will remember forever. I was never really exposed to same sex oriented people before the age of 12...and the first time i finally had a gay friend i felt special..sorry if it sounds dumb but it's true. Plus the OBC were so gorgeous.
I got hooked on Lippas Wild Party the minute I heard the harmonies in MAKE ME HAPPY. I had to buy it and I love it ever since...Also I got hooked on bat boy, when I heard Apology to a cow, I allmost died.

"IF I TRY THERE MAY BE A CHANCE / WE COULD LOVE WITH OUR EYES CLOSED/ WITH OUR EYES CLOSED WE COULD CHANGE THE WORLD!"- Stephen Dwight
I kinda got hooked on Thoroughly Modern Millie when I first heard Sutton sing...esoecially "Gimme Gimme"
(formerly bronte604)
"You really just love money and power and capitalism? You know they're never going to love you back."
"Things happen for the best...I don't even believe that myself."
I got hooked on Into The Woods when one of my best friends gave me the LP and very quickly became ill and passed away. That show will always mean so much to me.
"Sometimes people leave you half way through the woods..."
The King and I because of Yul Brynner's commanding presence and performance
Phantom of the Opera -- Michael Crawford gave me chills singing Music of the Night
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (not Broadway, I know...) because I loved the movie as a child and was enchanted with the stage version, and because the show "introduced" me to the gifted Michael Ball.
I got hooked on Witches of Eastwick when I first saw it and just loved everything about it. I got even more hooked after the CD came out and saw it 4 times in about 8 months before it closed (and I was there closing night too).
I got hooked on "I love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" because of the original score and the really funny skits, but also because of the scene where the divorced woman talked to the video camera and broke my heart.
I got hooked on "Mamma Mia" the second Louise Pitre opened her mouth and started singing "Money, Money, Money". I knew right then and there that this was something special!
"Years from now, when you talk about this - And you will - Be kind. "
I got hooked on " The Scarlet Pimpernel" because I work at the theater and I was lucky enough to meet him. I also loved it when he would sing "Into the Fire"
I got hooked on Ragtime cause I love anthem music at times. And the score is just so wonderful. And I got to meet most of the cast when I saw it in NYC. And they were all so incredibly nice and brilliant and sweet.
Mamma Mia!: originally went because Karen Mason was in the show (and I adore her)...went to see her in it numerous times and along the way fell in love with the great power that is Louise Pitre. She is what kept me with the show..she is simply amazing!
I got hooked on RENT after seeing it for the first time with my best friend. Her parents took us for her birthday and that was my very first musical and I didn't even know it existed till we got there. They had gotten her the soundtrack for her birthday, but after seeing it and remembering they were mormon :c) she ended up giving me the CD's. :cD I've been hooked ever since and I think everybody should have to see it at least once...it will make you a better person.
I got hooked on PHANTOM of the OPERA because I loved the songs, all the actors did such a great job. When I first went to see the show I didn't know what to expect because I have never seen a Broadway show before!! The show was just awsome and I've loved it since.

Baby, dream Your Dream" ~ SC
As a teenage girl way too familiar with unrequited love "On My Own" brought me into full obsession with Les Mis.
[title of show] at the Vineyard Theatre through September 9. Visit ticketcentral.com for tickets!
"Dreams, I've lived within my dreams now it seems I've awakened and they're real, pinch and feel. If one day I walk upon this stage from these wings and play underneath this dome, and if I sing with all my heart, I'll be home"
I love Broadway, and hope to become a Broadway performer. I first fell in love with musical theatre when I was in second grade, and my parents took me to see Phantom Of The Opera at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. From the moment that Craig Schulman, who was The Phantom at the time, walked on to the stage, I knew that it would one day be me up on-stage performing. My dream is to be a Broadway performer, but it is my goal to one day perform the role of The Phantom either on Broadway or on Tour. It is because of POTO that I ever fell in love with Broadway, and it will forever remain my favorite musical of all.
Bye! Phantom05

Im hooked on alot of shows but I guess my top four obsessions are 1. Funny Girl 2. Evita ( when I get bored I sing through the entire score in my head start to finish) 3. Gypsy 4. Ragtime
That is too too funny. I do that with CHICAGO. I sing it from start to finish abnd walk around the house doing stuff and FOSSE-ing my steps. It is really queer (and not in the good kind of queer) and I am sure the neighbors want me committed.
Clearly I got hooked on "The Scarlet Pimpernel" :) gotta love it. it was the best 3 years of my life being a memeber of the infamous best fan club ever "The League" I loved it. and I alos got hooked on Hairspray, Millie, and a heck of a lot more!
