I just saw Brooklyn last night and I thought the show was great! I took my 13 year old son and he loved it also. He thought it was funny and sad and he thought the vocals were outstanding. I share his opinion. I thought the cast did a wonderful job and I did not have a hard time following the story line at all and neither did my son~ Did I mention he was 13?? I read the critic reviews and frankly I think they are a bit snobbish and totally narrowminded~ It was not a flashy, broadway production~ It was great acting and singing and use of creativity in all aspects~ From the story telling to the costumes. I loved the music and ordered a CD. I appreciate individuality~ particularly on broadway. The audiance gave a standing ovation~ Well deserved~ I highly recommend it especially for the 12 year old and up crowd~ I went with my sister, her friend my son and two other friends~ total of 7 people with diverse backgrounds and ages(13-50years old) and personalities and all agreed that it was a show worth seeing and a very talented cast! I have to agree. While I suppose the story-line wasn't very original, the cast was phenomenal.

I've seen the show twice and I have to agree that the cast is just phenomenal. They work so hard, I get exhausted just thinking about it.

Also, how much fun do you think they have during Superlover? I think I'll go again just to hear that song again. :)

It is one of the best things I have never seen. I love her out of control voice in the illegal Wizard and I clip that's floating around and how she is not afraid to hit a bum note or put the wrong emPHASis on the wrong syLABle. ENED rox!

susan - Just had to respond. As people on this board have seen me post, I saw the show twice here in Denver. Being associated with the theatre here in Denver I got to know people with the show and have been following it. I think it is a great show for kids and even a good 1st show. We have an organization here called TKO (Take a Kid Out). Dedicated to getting kids (mostly African American) into the theatre. We encourage them to read about the play before seeing it and discussing it afterwards. Then we ask, especially with Shakespeare, how they think the plot would play out in the present day. Glad to see you are taking kids to the theatre!

I take my son to the theater a lot~ Since he was 5 years old~ His first show was the Lion King~ I think?? besides Radio City Christmas show. He has seen at least 20 shows~ I always let him bring at least one friend~ Uusally more~ When we went to see Brooklyn the writer of the show was hanging out and he was very excited to see the kids there~ He waited for us after the show and asked the kids for their opinions~ I thought that was very nice~ He also signed some autographs. Left my camera at home~ It was pouring raining. We usually hang out by the stage door so I can get some pics with the actors and my son~ I have them all hanging in the living room!! I LOVE LOOKING AT THEM! I am a teacher and I LOVE the theater~ I have always felt it really important for children to be exposed to the theater~ Thank God my son shares the same interest~ Maybe not love yet~ But certainly an interest and he is able to dicuss his likes and dislikes and compare shows and give his opinions~ He went to see his first drama play this year~ Raisin in the Sun~ P Diddy was in it so he was very excited to see it and at the same time it was a reading assignment and project for him so it was really great~ Of course if anyone saw the show~ P Diddy's acting left a lot to be desired~ But Phylisha Rashad was amazing~ The show was not really my cup of tea~ But my son was so excited when he was able to recogize some of the script which was really straight out of the playbook. That really made me happy to see him make a connection~

I ordered the CD after I saw the show a little over a week ago and they said they are aiming to have them out by the first week in December and cause I live in LA I would most likely get mine by December 10th! I can't wait to get it.

It started with a sipmle idea, collecting one paper clip for every life lost, the feelings that connect us...are greater than those that divide us!

I thought I read somewhere about it being released "This Thanksgiving." Maybe it was Tiny's site. Probably soon after Thanksgiving.
