.... yes, I'm making my own thread. I'm posting a lot, and I don't want it buried, because tonight was huge for me.

The highlight of my night was also quite possibly THE pinnacle of my life as a fan of musical theatre. Tonight, I saw Adam Pascal sing One Song Glory. Live. I cried. I don't know what to say.... this wasn't huge because it was Adam. This was huge because of WHO he is; the ORIGINAL in a show that changed musical theatre. He was turned around, and was like "I think you guys are going to like this one." Next thing "One song...." and I just started to cry. You could tell that this really meant something to him, but just this morning I was like "no, he's not going to do it. He never does." There was one point where he stopped and looked out at the audience. "You know this! Come on, I forgot the words. Help me out here!" and we all started to belt out Glory with him. That was a beautiful thing. I don't know what else to say. After Adam finished Glory, Daphne came out and knocked on the piano to begin Light My Candle. Those two are still on fire, and you could tell how happy they both were. The smile on Adam's face was genuine, and it was contagious. I was really, really happy for him. For some reason, to hear him say "I'm Roger" was a really special moment. I know seeing these two do this music is an experience that I never would've had if I hadn't gone tonight, and that I won't ever again have, probably. It was really emotional, and really, really beautiful.

Okay, sob fest done... now the concert:
I guess I'll talk about Daphne first (even though she was on second) just because that'll be shorter, for obvious reasons. I've honestly not really been a fan of Daphne's voice, but I've been a fan because of who she is and because she is very talented. She's a great performer live. Only Daphne would be able to pull off rocking out in a crop-top while seven months pregnant. She's bubbly and funny and completely crazy and out-there. Her music is mostly loud and in-your-face, but it's a LOT of fun. She sang some Spanish folk songs, too. They were gorgeous. After she finished her own stuff, she did Science Fiction Double Feature from Rocky Horror, which was a LOT of fun, and VERY well-recieved. She went directly into Out Tonight after that - as powerful as ever. She let the audience "Meow." Adam came BOUNCING on stage for Another Day in a black tank top (go ahead, squeal!). They were both singing with Daphne's band, and they were both having a wonderful time; Adam did some horribly silly dances (very, very endearing, though) and they were just genuinely into it all. Adam skipped the entire first verse and just stopped, waited and when "YOUR BROWN EYES!!" Daphne looked at him and was like "SOMEONE didn't do their homework!" Adam: "You KNOW I'm drunk!!" Adorable!

Okay, now for Adam. I had never seen Adam perform as himself before, so this was special. Adam as Adam is just as wonderful as I'd ever imagined. He's sweet and sexy and goofy, but more than anything else, he's a wonderfullly talented musician, and you can tell that he takes that side of himself and his music very seriously. For those interested, he wore all black, except his shirt was a darker black than his pants. The shirt was tight and zipped up... he had it about half unzipped. He was wearing bright red shoes. Someone please help him. Adam Pascal and Daphne Rubin-Vega at Kean University Anyway, my boy sang a whole bunch of new stuff, but without the orchestrations. He sang and played guitar and had piano accompaniment, but he said he felt that we could get a better feel for the new stuff (and hear what he was saying better) if it was just the core of the music; if it was just the way it was when he originally wrote it. I loved it then, and I'm just finishing my first listen through Civilian. I. Love. It. I think he's a really talented writer. It's reminiscent of Model Prisoner, but a little bit more subdued, I think. Anyway, he also sang a "countrified" version of The One That Got Away from MP and Billy Joel's Vienna Waits for You, which I ADORED. He also sang Appology, that "new" old song that he wrote, but didn't put on Civilian. Great song. Oh! And the falsetto was in full force tonight! YAY! Okay, anyway.... While he was tuning his guitar, he said we could ask questions... I'll just address the relevant. He said that Tarzan is still coming along, but that it's a ways away, and that he's "superfluously attached to" it, and that he is NOT the one running around in a loincloth. Anyway, I don't think I've ever heard him sound so great live. He sounded rested and relaxed and just... perfect.

Met both of them after.... I'm not going to go into that on here, though. This is getting long. Adam fans, see the Adam thread for my stagedooring story, okay?

Yup, I'm done. Amazing night. Cara, TGIF, I love you two. It was great to meet everyone else who I did, too!! <33333

I'm still running on my "high." I think I slept for four hours.... I was up til something like three thirty just bouncing around and listening to Civilian. I felt like if I went to sleep, I was conceding to the fact that the night on which I heard Adam sing Glory live was over, and I was not going to let that go easily! *sigh* I'll regret it later.... but for now... *bounces*
I'm not going to be able to sit through class!!

Emcee, that was a perfect review. I planned on writing a legnthy one also, but you put it all so perfectly that i don't need too!

Love you too Emcee! I had SUCH an amazing time last night. It was so surreal. I was talking to a friend that went that isn't really into musical theatre/broadway (which will soon change! :) )I was trying to stress the magnitude of what she saw last night. She didn't get it. She will though.

I still haven't made anything of it other than "wow." I feel like I had this divine musical theatre experience, and I have no way to explain it to anyone, other than to lay on my bed and smile like an idiot.

I know what you mean, Emcee. I can't put into words how amazing it was.
It was broadway.com who took that picture afterwards, right? Were they taking pictures during the actual concert? I hope they put some up on the website.

Someone was asking her about the baby and all of that music and dancing, etc. She said he doesn't kick while she's actually performing, but afterwards.... because he wants more, so she says. That baby IS going to come out doing somersaults. re: Adam Pascal and Daphne Rubin-Vega at Kean University

Daphne really kicked ass yesterday. I was never really too keen but she absolutely blew me away yesterday. What a character!!!

My friend and I went to Kean last night not really knowing what to expect. We both had an amazing time!! I brought my Rent book not knowing if I was the only dork going to bring it but I'm glad I did because they were both so cool and stayed after signed EVERYONEs things and graciously took pictures..

We both loved all their songs, but of course when they did the one song glory, light my candle, out tonight and another day we both couldn't sit in our seats!!..it was amazing.. and daphne was just too cute with her little outfit even though she's as pregnant as she is! lol.. it was an AMAZING night to say the least! re: Adam Pascal and Daphne Rubin-Vega at Kean University

Great review!! They were both amazing!! I loved Daphne's "dress" thing-- SO awesome! And I could go on and on about how fantatic Adam looked re: Adam Pascal and Daphne Rubin-Vega at Kean University

I'll be in an Adam/Daphne high for the next month. NOTHING can top this concert.

I'm not going to do a whole review because Emcee took care of that. I've been trying to decide what I was going to say about this. I don't even really believe yet what I witnessed last night. It wasn't "oh my god Adam", nothing like that. I am not a Renthead but I do love the show. I've seen it a few times and I appreciate it. When Adam started singing Glory my heart literally skipped a beat. I have heard this song countless times like everyone else but I had never been so affected by it. I was brought to tears by this performance. There was just such depth to it, you could tell how much it meant to both Adam and Daphne. They were having so much fun and there was such history there and you could see how much they care about each other and the material. It was phenomenal and I still don't really believe that I got to see it!

I am so glad to hear that about Glory. His rendition was always my favorite and I'm glad it's just as good as it was eight years ago. But how far into it did he forget the words?

And he really is a sweet goofy nerd stuck in a drop-dead sexy body, isn't he. How adorable.
