I can't watch the TV today. Every time they show the planes hitting the towers, or the towers collapsing, I start to feel sick.

I remember that day...

I was a freshman and on my way to geometry, and my friend tells me that the WTC is falling. I didn't think much of it, but I went to my geometry class and the teacher had the TV on the news as everything was happening.

I don't like how they are turning this into a market. Everywhere I go, I see those magnets of ribbons on the back of cars.

I just got back from a 9/11 rememberance and memorial dedication. I sang the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America. I was asked to by my choir director. It was really depressing. We lost 2 people from my town... no one that I knew, but it was really sad to see one of the sons of someone who lost their life speak about his father. Everyone was in tears.
I wish you all the best on this day, and let us not forget.

It's strange you say that, because it doesn't feel like any kind of special day here. The sun is shining and all. It's strange.

I can't adequetly express my feelings for the people who lost family and friends. Just know they're in a better place, I guess, and that they're looking out for you.

9/11 changed my life forever. I'll never feel safe and secure going over a bridge or through a tunnel. I'll always fear being in a subway car or walking through a mall. I am changed politically. I am forever saddened and I will never forget.

My voice teacher/choir director lost her husband that day---he was 28; they had been married for one year.

The little boys I used to babysit for around the corner lost their father---he was a firefighter.

My uncle, who has been like a father to me since mine died back when I was 5, was in the buildings but made it out alright---aside from the horrors he had to witness while trying to get out.

These are only the people that I know personally who were directly effected by the day. My town had many many more who were lost. When I'm feeling down about these people, I try to remember the good times....

I remember my voice teacher's husband coming home and bursting into song while her and I were singing, and then asking if he could take us out to dinner. I remember the Father driving me home after an exhausting night of babysitting, and telling me little corny jokes to cheer me up or get me to smile. I remember the way my uncle used to behave---he will never be the same, he always has the look in his eyes.

RIP everyone we lost in 9-11. I will never forget you.

I was a sophomore in HS...heading to school since I slept through 1st period, and then when I got to school it was all over the news. Of course we were told not to watch the news, but we did anyway.

It's a bit odd now , whenever i see a film pre 9/11 that shows the Twin Towers, I always blow them a kiss from my fingers. Silly huh? Memento Mori.

A movie I like to watch every once in a while is TRICK. In the final shot, they pull back to a view of him walking up the street with the towers looming in the background. However, because there must have been a fair amount of haze that day, the towers look like ghost images compared to the high relief of everything else around. It is VERY disconcerting.

thanks glebb for caring. i feel the same way. i lost my godfather in the attacks. he was a fire-fighter in NYC. he was called in that day and was saving an elderly woman when the tower collapsed. the woman survived, but my uncle did not. i'm sorry, this is just really hard. my uncle was a brave man. he was kind hearted and loved everyone around him. he was a dedicated father and worker. i miss him so much. my entire family does. let him and all of the victims rest in peace.

I've always been a native New Yorker, so it was very close to me when it happened, but actually living in the city this year is going to be hard... and strange.

Love and my deepest condolences to all who were directly impacted.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Anyone who lost loved ones, you are in my prayers!

I can still remember everything about that day... We watched it all day in school. To this day, I can't see anything that has to do with it... I was very scared because my dad works in NYC, but thankfully, he never made it into work because as soon as he heard on the radio about it, he turned around and came home.

I pray today for all the people who were lost on this day in 2001 and their families. A song of rememberance on this day.

Heaven Holds the Ones I Love...

I've spent my life
Building castles of dreams
Reaching for
Each distant star
As tears clear my eyes
I finally realize
Happiness is where you are
And I'm still a part of you
And you're still a part of me
I swear I'll always celebrate Your memory
You'll live inside of me
Heaven holds the ones I love
I see your eyes twinkle in the skies above
My hopes are floating in the clouds
The wind repeats your name out loud
Ohhh Heaven holds the ones I love

At times I'm unsure
Why our hearts must endure
All the pain
And such great loss
But look what I've gained
I feel your kiss in the rain
It's your smile I miss the most
But I'm still a part of you
And you're still the biggest part of me
And I swear I'll always celebrate
Your memory
And trust what's meant to be
Heaven holds the ones
I see your eyes twinkle in the skies above
My hopes are floating in the clouds
The wind repeats your name out loud
Ohhh Heaven holds the ones I love
And in my grief and disbelief
One thing I know is true
Every breath I take
Brings me that much closer to you
Heaven holds the ones I love
I see your eyes twinkle in the skies above
My hopes are floating in the clouds
The wind repeats your name out loud
Ohhh Heaven holds the ones I love
