So, which song would you pick as the greatest song ever to come out of a Broadway musical? Which is the perfect marriage of words and melody, the most moving, the most stupendous, the most memorable, the biggest technical achievement, the most perfectly integrated into the story? Throw 'em out there! Maybe we can pick the top five or so and ask Rob to make a poll to pick the GREATEST of all!

My nomination: "'Ol Man River" from SHOW BOAT

Okay, I know people will disagree with me on my choice, because it is not a show tune... But the one song that always makes me happier, no matter what, is Dancing Queen. But if you want to get technical, I suppose I'd pick All That Jazz

If Lincoln were alive today, do you think he'd be pleased with his tunnel?

I'd say "The Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha. Makes me cry every single time.

Comedy Tonight from "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." Makes me laugh every time.

The best male star turn song has to be Betrayed from THe Producers (or maybe that one from On the Twentieth Century). The best female star turn is Rose's Turn from Gypsy.

I know both of them are overdone, but it would either have to be "What I Did For Love" from A Chorus Line or "Send In The Clowns" from A Little Night Music.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Can't pick one! All That JAzz/Don't Rain on my Parade. & as a perfect moment The Ascot Gavotte frm Fair LAdy>
Since we're soul bearing" Everything Is Beautiful At the Ballet" Still reduces me to tears -the three climbing repeats of "at the Ballet " then the segue into the "dance class" just emotionally destroys me.:C Updated On: 8/2/03 at 11:37 AM

I would say, "Some People" from Gypsy. The music and lyrics are just so flawless for that song, and it just has an accompanyment that just SCREAMS "Broadway"/

I'd have to say:
Ensemble song: One Day More-Les Miserables
Duet female: I Will Never Leave You-Side Show
Duet male: The Confrontation-Les Miserables
Duet male/female: Still-Titanic
Solo female: Rose's Turn-Gypsy
Solo male: You Should Be Loved-Side Show

I know that's more than one, but I think I covered all cases...

I had a dream... I dreamed it for you June... It wasn't for me Herbie... And if it wasn't for me, then where would you be, Miss. Gypsy Rose Lee?

I know it says ONE GREATEST... but I'll list a few....my favorite two:

Everything's Coming Up Roses
I'm Still Here

I would have to say

"I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face" from MY FAIR LADY.

Using sophisticatedly simple lyrics and melody that song displays a breadth and a depth and a change of character emotion. Its sums up the emotional core of MFL.

Yours for a better Broadway!
